The LORD preserves!

 READ: Exodus 11, 12; Psalm 31; Matthew 16:1-12.

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 31:23 Love the LORD, all his saints! The LORD preserves the faithful, but the proud he pays back in full. 24 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.

OBSERVATION: In the world we live today, we see that preservatives are added to many food products, medicines, cosmetics and so other many things. Although they are used to prevent any decomposition of the products, in the long run these preservatives spoil the health and well-being of those who use it. Here, David says, "The LORD preserves the faithful." In Psalm 31, David expresses his trust in the Lord despite all the unfavorable situation in his life. As he describes his distressing thoughts, pains and slanders that terrorized him and weakened him both physically and emotionally, his confident was in the Lord and says "But I trust in you" (Ps.31:9-14). God protects his faithful ones from all afflictions and keep them safe. Above all, God stored up his goodness for his people. As our times are in his hand, not in the hands of our enemies, he delivers and lifts us up in his time. God is faithful. He fulfilled his promises to the Israelites and brought them out from the bondage of Egypt after 430 years. He is able to deliver and to protect his faithful ones even today. No matter who our enemy is or what our sorrowful situation is, but whom we put our trust matters most. We can trust God always! 

APPLICATION: When I am surrounded by unfavorable situations and afflictions that I never expected in my life, there are times I became weak physically and emotionally. The more I looked at my environment, my fears intensified and no breakthrough visible within my eyesight. However, when I remember what the Lord did in the past and in the life of others who feared him, my confidence and trust in the Lord are increasing, and my fears are disappearing from my sight. The Bible says of many such stories of God's faithfulness and deliverance. God's protection never decays. I trust and love you oh my Lord. How great thou art! 

PRAYER:  Father God, thank you for protecting me from every harmful and evil thoughts that try to devour me. My life and my times are in your hands! How wonderful your love. Help me to remember your love and protection, and to love you always.  Amen.

கர்த்தர் கெட்டுப்போக விடுவதில்லை

 வாசிக்க: யாத்திராகமம் 11, 12; சங்கீதம் 31; மத்தேயு 16:1-12

வேதவசனம்:  சங்கீதம் 31: 23. கர்த்தருடைய பரிசுத்தவான்களே, நீங்களெல்லாரும் அவரில் அன்புகூருங்கள்; உண்மையானவனைக் கர்த்தர் தற்காத்து, இடும்புசெய்கிறவனுக்குப் பூரணமாய்ப் பதிலளிப்பார்.  24. கர்த்தருக்குக் காத்திருக்கிறவர்களே, நீங்களெல்லாரும் திடமனதாயிருங்கள், அவர் உங்கள் இருதயத்தை ஸ்திரப்படுத்துவார்.

கவனித்தல்:  நாம் வாழும் இன்றைய உலகில், உணவுப் பொருட்கள், மருந்துகள், அழகு சாதன பொருட்கள், மற்றும் பல பொருட்கள் கெட்டுப் போகாமல் இருப்பதற்காக பதப்படுத்தும் வேதியியல் பதப்பொருள்கள் (preservatives)  சேர்க்கப்படுவதை நாம் பார்க்கிறோம்.   பொருட்கள் அழிந்து போகாமல் பாதுகாப்பதுதான் பதப்பொருட்களைப் பயன்படுத்துவதன் நோக்கம் என்றாலும், நீண்ட நாட்கள் பயன்படுத்தும் போது அதை பயன்படுத்துபவர்களின் ஆரோக்கியத்திற்கும் நலத்திற்கும் தீங்கு விளைவிப்பதாக அவை இருக்கின்றன. இங்கு கர்த்தர் தமக்கு உண்மையாக இருப்பவர்களைப் பாதுகாக்கிறார் என்று தாவீது சொல்கிறார். சங்கீதம் 31ல், தன் வாழ்வில் மிகவும் கடுமையான ஒரு நெருக்கடியான வேளையிலும் கர்த்தன் மீதான தன் நம்பிக்கையை தாவீது வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். அவர் தன்னை கவலைப்படுத்துகிற சிந்தனைகள், வேதனைகள், மற்றும் எப்பக்கத்திலும் திகிலை உண்டாக்கியதும், சரீரப்பிரகாரமாகவும் உணர்வுப் பூர்வமாகவும் பலவீனப்படுத்தின எதிரிகளின் அவதூறுகளைப் பற்றிச் சொல்கையில்,  “நானோ கர்த்தாவே, உம்மை நம்பியிருக்கிறேன்; நீரே என் தேவன் என்று” சொல்கிறார் (வ.9-14).தேவன் தமக்கு உண்மையானவர்களை எல்லா உபத்திரவங்களிலும் இருந்து விடுவித்து, அவர்களைப் பாதுகாக்கிறார். எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மேலாக, தேவன் தமக்கு உண்மையாய் இருப்பவர்களுக்கு “உண்டுபண்ணி வைத்திருக்கிற நன்மை” எவ்வளவு பெரிது! நம் காலங்கள் நம் எதிரிகளின் கைகளில் அல்ல,  தேவனுடைய கரங்களில் இருக்கிறது. அவருடைய வேளையில் தேவன் நம்மை விடுவித்து, உயர்த்துகிறார். தேவன் உண்மையுள்ளவராகவே இருக்கிறார். 430 வருட அடிமைத்தன எகிப்தில் இருந்து இஸ்ரவேலர்களை விடுவித்து, தேவன் தம் வாக்குத்தத்தத்தை நிறைவேற்றினார். இன்றும் கூட தம்மை நம்பி, தமக்கு உண்மையாக இருப்பவர்களை விடுவிக்க தேவன் வல்லவராக இருக்கிறார். நம் எதிரி யார் என்பது அல்ல அல்லது நம்முடைய கவலைப் படவைக்கும் சூழ்நிலை என்ன என்பது அல்ல, நாம் யார் மீது நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருக்கிறோம் என்பதே மிகவும் முக்கியமானது ஆகும். நாம் எக்காலத்திலும் தேவனை நம்ப முடியும்!

பயன்பாடு:  என் வாழ்வில் நான் ஒருபோதும் எதிர்பார்த்திராத விரும்பத்தகாத சூழ்நிலைகள் மற்றும் பாடுகள் என்னைச் சுற்றி இருக்கையில், நான் சரீரப்பிரகாரமாகவும், உணர்வுப் பூர்வமாகவும் பலவீனமாக இருந்த நேரங்கள் உண்டு. நான் என் சூழ்நிலையைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த நேரங்களில், என் பயம் அதிகரித்து, கண்ணுக்கெட்டிய தூரம் வரைக்கும் நம்பிக்கையூட்டும் எதுவும் என் பார்வைக்குத் தெரியாமல் இருந்தது. ஆயினும், கடந்தகாலங்களில் என் வாழ்விலும் தேவனுக்குப் பயந்த மற்ற  மனிதர்களின் வாழ்க்கையிலும் தேவன் என்ன செய்தார் என்பதை நான் நினைவுகூர்கின்ற போது, தேவன் மேல் உள்ள என் நம்பிக்கையும் விசுவாசமும் அதிகரித்து, என் பயங்கள் என்னை விட்டு விலக ஆரம்பிக்கின்றது. தேவனுடைய விடுதலை மற்றும் உண்மைத்தன்மையைப் பற்றிச் சொல்கிற பல சம்பவங்களை நாம் வேதத்தில் வாசிக்கிறோம். தேவனுடைய பாதுகாப்பு ஒருபோதும் அழிந்து சிதைந்து போவதில்லை. ஆண்டவரே நான் உம்மை நேசிக்கிறேன், உம்மையே நம்புகிறேன். நீர் எவ்வளவு பெரியவர்!

ஜெபம்:  தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, என்னை அழிக்க நினைக்கிற எந்தக் கொடிய மற்றும் தீய எண்ணங்களிலும் இருந்து நீர் என்னைப் பாதுகாக்கிறதற்காக உமக்கு நன்றி.   என் காலங்களும், என் வாழ்க்கையும் உம் கரங்களில் இருக்கிறது! உம் அன்பு எவ்வளவு ஆச்சரியமானது! உம் அன்பையும் பாதுகாப்பையும் நான் எப்போதும் நினைவில் கொள்ளவும், எக்காலத்திலும் உம்மை  நேசித்து, அன்பு கூரவும் எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

இயேசுவின் பாதத்தில் வைத்து விடுங்கள்

வாசிக்க: யாத்திராகமம் 9, 10; சங்கீதம் 30; மத்தேயு 15:21-39

வேதவசனம்:  மத்தேயு 15: 29. இயேசு...ஒரு மலையின்மேல் ஏறி, அங்கே உட்கார்ந்தார். 30. அப்பொழுது, சப்பாணிகள், குருடர், ஊமையர், ஊனர் முதலிய அநேகரை, திரளான ஜனங்கள் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர்களை அவர் பாதத்திலே வைத்தார்கள்; அவர்களை அவர் சொஸ்தப்படுத்தினார். 31. ஊமையர் பேசுகிறதையும், ஊனர் சொஸ்தமடைகிறதையும், சப்பாணிகள் நடக்கிறதையும், குருடர் பார்க்கிறதையும் ஜனங்கள் கண்டு, ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனை மகிமைப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

கவனித்தல்: ஒரு ராஜா தனது சிம்மாசனத்தில் அமர்ந்திருக்கும்போது, அவருடைய மக்கள் ராஜா முன்பாக வந்து அவருடைய காலடியில் தங்களால் இயன்றதை கொண்டு வைத்து தங்கள் மரியாதையைக் காண்பிப்பார்கள்.  இங்கே, இயேசு இருக்கிற இடத்தில், சப்பாணிகளையும், கண்பார்வை இல்லாதவர்களையும்,  ஊனமுற்றோர்களையும், வாய் பேச முடியாத ஊமைகளையும், மற்றும் பல பிணியாளிகளையும் ஜனங்கள் இயேசுவின் பாதத்தில் கொண்டு வந்து வைத்தார்கள் என்று வாசிக்கிறோம். அப்பொழுது அந்நோயாளிகளைக் குணமாக்குவதற்காக வெளிப்பட்ட தேவனுடைய வல்லமையைப் பற்றியும் நாம் வாசிக்கிறோம். இயேசு அவர்கள் அனைவரையும் சுகப்படுத்தினார். நவீன மருத்துவ வசதிகளால் கூட செய்ய முடியாத ஒன்றை இயேசு செய்தார். எனவே அந்த ஜனங்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு தேவனைத் துதித்தார்கள், மகிமைப்படுத்தினார்கள். அதைவிட அதிகமாக  அவர்கள் வேறு என்ன செய்ய முடியும்!   நம்முடைய இயலாமை, பலவீனங்கள், கவலைகள், துக்கங்கள், வேதனைகள் மற்றும் நம் வாழ்க்கையில் நம்மால் தாங்க முடியாத எதையும் வைப்பதற்கான சரியான இடம் இயேசுவின் பாதங்கள் தான். இன்றும் அவர் குணமாக்க வல்லவராக இருக்கிறார். ஏனெனில்,  “இயேசுகிறிஸ்து நேற்றும் இன்றும் என்றும் மாறாதவராயிருக்கிறார்” (எபி.13: 8).

பயன்பாடு: நான் இயேசுவின் பாதத்தில் என் வாழ்க்கையை முன் வந்து வைக்கும்போது, “என் புலம்பலை ஆனந்தக் களிப்பாக மாறப்பண்ணினீர்; என் மகிமை அமர்ந்திராமல் உம்மைக் கீர்த்தனம்பண்ணும்படியாக நீர் என் இரட்டைக் களைந்துபோட்டு, மகிழ்ச்சியென்னும் கட்டினால் என்னை இடைகட்டினீர். என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, உம்மை என்றென்றைக்கும் துதிப்பேன்.” (சங்.30:11:12) என தாவீதைப் போல நானும் பாட முடியும். அவர் வல்லமையுள்ளவர். அவர் இன்றும் உயிரோடிருக்கிறார். என் ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவால் செய்ய முடியாத காரியம் எதுவும் இல்லை. அல்லேலூயா! ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவே, என் வாழ்க்கையை உம் பாதத்தில் சமர்ப்பிக்கிறேன். இதை விட அதிகமாக நான் வேறென்ன செய்துவிட முடியும்!

ஜெபம்:   ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவே, நீர் ஒருவரே என் துதிக்குப் பாத்திரர். என் தேவைகள் ஒவ்வொன்றையும் நீர் சந்திப்பதற்காக நன்றி. நீரே எனக்கு எல்லாம். நான் உம்மை எக்காலத்திலும் நம்ப முடியும். என் வாழ்க்கையில் உம்மையே மகிமைப்படுத்தி  வாழ எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

Place "at HIS feet"

READ: Exodus 9, 10; Psalm 30; Matthew 15:21-39.

SCRIPTURE:  Matthew 15:29 Jesus...went up on a mountainside and sat down. 30 Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. 31 The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel. 

OBSERVATION: When a king sits at his throne, his people would come and offer what they could at his feet in order to show their respect for the King. Here, we read that while Jesus was sitting people laid the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others at his feet. Then we read of God's creative power to heal those sick people. He made them well. Jesus did something that is not possible to do by even today's modern medical facilities. So they were amazed and praised God. What more they could do! The feet of  Jesus is the perfect place to offer our inabilities, weaknesses, worries, sorrows, pain, and anything that we can't bear in our life. He is able to heal even today, for "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever" (Heb.13:8). 

APPLICATION:  When I place my life at his feet, then I can sing like David, "You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever" (Ps.30:11,12). He is able! He is alive! Nothing impossible for my Lord Jesus Christ. Hallelujah! Lord Jesus, I offer my life to you. What more I could do! 

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, you alone are worthy of my praise. Thank you for your providence to my every need. You are my everything. I can trust you always. Help me to live for your glory. Amen.

பாரம்பரிய தீட்டு

  வாசிக்க: யாத்திராகமம் 7, 8; சங்கீதம் 29; மத்தேயு 15:1-20

வேதவசனம்:  மத்தேயு 15:1. அப்பொழுது, எருசலேமிலிருந்து வந்த வேதபாரகரும் பரிசேயரும் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து: 2. உம்முடைய சீஷர்கள் முன்னோர்களின் பாரம்பரியத்தை ஏன் மீறி நடக்கிறார்கள்? கைகழுவாமல் போஜனம்பண்ணுகிறார்களே! என்றார்கள். 3. அவர்களுக்கு அவர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நீங்கள் உங்கள் பாரம்பரியத்தினாலே தேவனுடைய கற்பனையை ஏன் மீறி நடக்கிறீர்கள்?...6. உங்கள் பாரம்பரியத்தினாலே தேவனுடைய கற்பனையை அவமாக்கிவருகிறீர்கள்.

கவனித்தல்: இயேசு பாரம்பரியங்களுக்கு எதிரானவர் என்று இந்த வேதப் பகுதி கூறவில்லை. மாறாக, தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையை அவமாக்கும் எந்தவொரு பாரம்பரியத்திற்கும் இயேசு எதிரானவர் என்பதை நாம் உறுதியாகக் கூறமுடியும். இயேசு வாழ்ந்த நாட்களில், “முன்னோர்களின் பாரம்பரியம்” வாய்மொழியாக இருந்தது. அது யூதர்களின் அனுதின வாழ்வில் அவர்கள் செய்யும் ஒவ்வொரு செய்கையிலும் ஒரு முக்கிய பங்கையும் வகித்தது. அப்பாரம்பரியங்களின் உண்மையான நோக்கம் என்னவாக இருந்ததெனில், மோசே மூலமாக தேவன் கொடுத்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தை ஜனங்கள் பின்பற்ற உதவ வேண்டும் என்பதாகும். ஆயினும், அவை மனிதர்களால் போதிக்கப்பட்ட வெறும் கற்பனைகளாக மாறின. தேவனுக்குக் கொடுக்க வேண்டிய இடத்தில் ஒரு பாரம்பரியத்தை வைக்கும்போது, தேவனுக்கு நாம் படைக்கும் எதுவும் உதட்டளவில் செய்யும் வெறும் சடங்காகவே இருக்கும். நம் சொல்லிலும் செயலிலும் தேவனை உயர்த்துகிறதும், நம் இருதயத்தில் இருந்து நாம் தேவனுக்குக் கொடுக்கிறதையுமே தேவன் எதிர்பார்க்கிறார். வெளிப்புறமான அல்லது சடங்காச்சாரமான தூய்மையை தேவன் விரும்புகிறதில்லை. நாம் நம் இருதயத்தில் சுத்தமுள்ளவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று இயேசு  விரும்புகிறார். சங்கீதக்காரன் சொல்வது போல, நாம் “பரிசுத்த அலங்காரத்துடனே கர்த்தரைத் தொழுது” கொள்ள வேண்டும் (சங்.29:2).

பயன்பாடு:  தெரிந்தோ அல்லது தெரியாமலோ, நம் வாழ்வில் பல பாரம்பரியங்களைப் நாம் பின்பற்றத்தான் செய்கிறோம். ஆரம்பத்தில், அவை மனிதர்களின் அனுதின வாழ்க்கைக்கு உதவ வேண்டும் என்ற நல்ல நோக்கத்தில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கலாம். ஆயினும், நான் பின்பற்றும் எந்தவொரு சடங்கும் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையை அவமாக்கக் கூடாது என்பதில் நான் கவனமாகவும் விழிப்புடனும் இருக்க வேண்டும். மானம் மற்றும் அவமானம் ஆகியவற்றிற்கு முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுக்கும் ஒரு கலாச்சாரத்தில், பாரம்பரியம் சமுதாயத்தில் ஒரு முக்கிய பங்கை வகிக்கிறது. ஆயினும், எந்த பாரம்பரியமும் தேவனை விட பெரியது அல்ல. எந்த பாரம்பரியத்தையும் விட, என் வாழ்வில் இயேசுவின் வார்த்தைகள்  மிகவும் முக்கியமானவை ஆகும். தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக எந்தவொரு பாரம்பரியமும் என்னைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்த நான் அனுமதிக்க மாட்டேன்.  தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையில் இருந்துதான் தேவனுடைய உண்மையான ஆசீர்வாதம் வருகிறது, எந்தவொரு பாரம்பரியத்திலிருந்தும் அல்ல.

ஜெபம்:  பரிசுத்த தேவனே, உம் வார்த்தைகளை அவமாக்கும் எதாவதொரு பாரம்பரியத்திற்கு நான் எப்பொழுதாவது இடம் கொடுத்திருந்தால், என்னை மன்னியும். எந்த பாரம்பரியமும் என்னைத் தீட்டுப் படுத்தாதபடி என்னைப் பாதுகாத்து, என் இருதயத்தை சுத்தமாகவும், தூய்மையாகவும் வைத்திருக்க உதவும். உம் வசனத்தின் சத்தியத்தினால் என்னைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்கும். ஆமென்.

Traditional defilement

  READ: Exodus 7, 8; Psalm 29; Matthew 15:1-20.

SCRIPTURE:  Matthew 15:1 Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!” 3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?... 6...Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.

OBSERVATION: This bible passage does not say that Jesus is against tradition. Rather, we can say that he is surely against any tradition that nullifies the word of God. In Jesus' time, "tradition of the elders" were in oral form and played an important role in the day to day activities of Jewish people. The original purpose of the tradition was to help people to follow the law of Moses.  However, they became mere rules taught by humans. When a tradition takes the place of God, whatever offered to God will become a lip service. But God expects our heart service that honor him in our word and deeds. God is not interested in our external or ceremonial purification. He wants us to be "clean" in our heart. As the psalmist says, we need to "worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness" (Ps.29:2).

APPLICATION: Knowingly or unknowingly, we follow many traditions in our life. Originally they all might have been developed with some good intention to aid the day to day life of people. However, I need to be watchful and careful that any tradition that I follow should not nullify the word of God.  In a culture of honor and shame, tradition plays a vital role in a society. However, in my life the words of Jesus are important than any tradition. No tradition is greater than God.  I will not allow any tradition to defile my heart before God. The real blessing of God comes from the word of God, not from any tradition.

PRAYER: Oh Holy God, if I have ever given a place to any tradition that nullify your words, forgive me. Help me to keep my heart pure and clean from any traditional defilement. Sanctify me by the truth of your word. Amen.

ஜெபிக்க நேரம் கண்டுபிடித்தல்

 வாசிக்க: யாத்திராகமம் 5, 6; சங்கீதம் 28; மத்தேயு 14:22-36

வேதவசனம்:  மத்தேயு 14: 22. இயேசு ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிடுகையில், தம்முடைய சீஷர்கள் படவில் ஏறி, தமக்கு முன்னே அக்கரைக்குப் போகும்படி அவர்களைத் துரிதப்படுத்தினார்.
 23. அவர் ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டபின்பு, தனித்து ஜெபம்பண்ண ஒரு மலையின்மேல் ஏறி, சாயங்காலமானபோது அங்கே தனிமையாயிருந்தார்.

கவனித்தல்: ஒரு நாள் முழுதும் தன் வேலையைச் செய்த பின், ஒரு பெருங்கூட்ட ஜனங்களுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்த பின், தன்னுடன் இருந்த அனைத்து ஜனங்களும் திருப்தியாகும்வரை சாப்பிடும்படி ஒரு அற்புதத்தைச் செய்த பின், இயேசு ஜெபிக்க ஒரு மலையின் மேல் ஏறினார். நோயாளிகளை இயேசு குணமாக்கினதைக் கண்ட பின் (மத்.14:14), அனைவரும் (பெண்கள் மற்றும் குழந்தைகள் தவிர, ஆண்கள் மட்டும் 5000 பேர்) திருப்தியாக சாப்பிட உணவுப் பெருக்கத்தின் அற்புதத்தைச் செய்த பின் (மத்.14:15-21),  இயேசுவைச் சுற்றிலும் இருந்தவர்களுக்கு அவரை விட்டுச் செல்ல மனம் இருந்திருக்க வாய்ப்பில்லை. அவர்கள் மனதில், இயேசுவைக் குறித்து வேறு ஆசைகள் அல்லது எதிர்பார்ப்புகள் இருந்திருக்கலாம் (யோவான் 6:14,15).  ஆனால்,  ஜனங்களை திரும்ப அவரவர் வீட்டிற்கு அனுப்பும் போது,  தன் சீடர்களை அக்கரைக்குச் செல்லும்படி துரிதப்படுத்தினார். மூல மொழியில், இயேசு தன் சீடர்கள் படகிற்குப் போகும்படி கட்டாயப்படுத்தினார், வலுக்கட்டாயமாக அனுப்பினார் என்று வருகிறது. அதன் பின்பு இயேசு மலையின் மேல் ஏறி, “அங்கே தனிமையாயிருந்தார்.” வேறு வார்த்தைகளில் சொல்வதானால், அவர் தேவனுடன் தனித்து இருந்தார்.  இயேசு ஜனங்களைக் குணமாக்கி, பெரும் கூட்ட மக்களுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தாலும் கூட, அவர் ஜெபிப்பதற்கு நேரம் கண்டுபிடித்து, அந்நேரங்களில் தேவனுடன் தனிமையில் இருந்தார். அவர் தன் சீடர்களைத் துரிதமாக அனுப்பிய விதம், அவருடைய வாழ்க்கையில் அவர் ஜெபிப்பதற்கு கொடுத்த முன்னுரிமையைக் காண்பிக்கிறது. 

பயன்பாடு:  அனேக கிறிஸ்தவர்களுக்கு அனுதினமும் வேதம் வாசிக்க அல்லது ஜெபிக்க நேரம் கண்டுபிடிப்பது மிகக் கடினமாக ஒரு காரியமாக இருக்கிறது. அதிக வேலை என்று சொல்லி நான் ஜெபம் செய்யாமல் இருக்கக் கூடாது. இயேசு செய்தது போல, ஜெபம் செய்ய, அதற்கு நேரம் ஒதுக்க, என் வாழ்வில் எதையாகிலும் நான் துறக்க அல்லது விலக்கி வைக்க வேண்டியதிருக்கலாம். எனக்கு தேவை உள்ள நேரங்களில் நான் தேவனிடம் வந்து ஜெபிப்பது போல, மற்ற நாட்களில் நான் தேவனைத் தேடி வருவதில்லை. என் தேவைகள் அனைத்தையும் என் பரம பிதா நன்கறிந்திருக்கிறார். ஆகவே நான் என் தேவைகளுக்காக அல்ல, தேவனுடன் தனிமையில் இருப்பதற்காக ஜெபிக்க நேரம் ஒதுக்க வேண்டும். நான் அனுதினமும் ஜெபிப்பதற்கு  நேரம் கண்டுபிடிக்க எனக்கு உதவும் எதையும் நான் செய்வேன். “தேவனுடன் இருப்பதற்காக நேரம் செலவழிப்பதுதான் நமக்குத் தேவையான சக்தியைப் பெறுவதற்கான சிறந்த இடம்” என்று ஒரு தேவமனிதர் சரியாகச் சொல்லி இருக்கிறார்.

ஜெபம்:  தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, நீர் ஜீவனுள்ள தேவன். நீர் என்னை நேசிக்கிறீர். என்னுடன் அனுதினமும் பேச விரும்புகிறீர். நீரே என் வல்லமையின் ஊற்று. அனுதினமும் நான் ஜெபிக்கத் தடையாக என் வாழ்வில் இருக்கும் எதையும் அகற்ற எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

Finding time to Pray

 READ: Exodus 5, 6; Psalm 28; Matthew 14:22-39.

SCRIPTURE:  Matthew 14:22 Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23 After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there alone.

OBSERVATION: After a long day of work and ministering to a large crowd, after the miracle of feeding all the people who were with him, Jesus went up on a mountain side to pray. After witnessing Jesus' ministry of healing the sick (Mt.14:14), after seeing the miracle of  multiplication of food that filled and satisfied all (besides women and children, men alone 5000) who ate  (Mt.14:15-21), all those around him surely would not have liked to go away from Jesus. They may have had different aspirations and expectations (Jn.6:14,15) about Jesus. But, "immediately Jesus made the disciples" to go to the other side, while he sent the people to their homes. Literal meaning of this verse says, Jesus "compelled" or "constrained" his disciples to go into the boat and went up to pray. "He was there alone." In other words, he was alone with God. Even when Jesus was healing people and ministering to large crowds, he was able to find time to pray and spent it alone with God. The way he sent his disciples "immediately" shows us what is his priority.

APPLICATION: Finding time to read the Bible or to pray everyday is often a difficult thing for many Christians. My so called busy life should not be a hindrance for spending time in prayer. Like Jesus did, I may need to constrain (or refrain) something  in my life to find time to pray. I may need to "make"   something that would help me to spend my time in prayer with God. Like I seek God and pray during my times of need,  I do not come to God in my normal days. My heavenly father knows my every need. So my focus and purpose of prayer is not for my needs, but to spend time alone with God. "I will do" everything that help me to find some time to pray every day. As someone rightly said, "taking time to be with God is the best place to find strength."

PRAYER: Father God, You are the living God. You love me and want to speak with me every day of my life. You are the source of my strength. Help me to keep anything away from my life that hinders me to pray. Amen.

இரட்சகராகிய தேவனிடம் நான் சொல்லும் சாக்குபோக்குகள்

வாசிக்க: யாத்திராகமம் 3, 4; சங்கீதம் 27; மத்தேயு 14:1-21

வேதவசனம்:  யாத்திராகமம் 3:7. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: எகிப்திலிருக்கிற என் ஜனத்தின் உபத்திரவத்தை நான் பார்க்கவே பார்த்து, ஆளோட்டிகளினிமித்தம் அவர்கள் இடுகிற கூக்குரலைக் கேட்டேன், அவர்கள் படுகிற வேதனைகளையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன். 8. அவர்களை எகிப்தியரின் கைக்கு விடுதலையாக்க...இறங்கினேன். 10. நீ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய என் ஜனத்தை எகிப்திலிருந்து அழைத்து வரும்படி உன்னைப் பார்வோனிடத்துக்கு அனுப்புவேன் வா என்றார்.

கவனித்தல்: இங்கு கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் வேதாகம வசனங்களில் தேவன் சொல்கிற வார்த்தைகளைக் கவனியுங்கள். தேவன் தம் ஜனங்களின் உபத்திரவத்தைப் பார்க்கிறார், அவர்களின் கூக்கூரலைக் கேட்கிறார், வேதனைகளை அறிந்திருக்கிறார், மற்றும் அவர்களை அடிமைத்தனத்திலிருந்து விடுதலையாக்க வருகிறார்.  “ஒரு முட்செடியின் நடுவிலிருந்து உண்டான அக்கினிஜுவாலையிலே” தேவன் மோசேக்கு தரிசனமாகி, “வா” என்று அழைக்கிறார். ஆனால், மோசே என்ன செய்தார்! அவர் தன் சாக்குபோக்குகளை ஒவ்வொன்றாகச் சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். மொத்தத்தில் ஐந்து என நாம் வாசிக்கிறோம். மோசே தேவனிடம் கேட்டவை நியாயமான சந்தேகங்கள் மற்றும் கேள்விகள்தான் என சிலர் நினைக்கக் கூடும்.  “நான் எம்மாத்திரம்” (யாத். 3: 11), “ (உம்) நாமம் என்ன... நான் அவர்களுக்கு என்ன சொல்லுவேன்?”(யாத். 3: 13)," அவர்கள் என்னை நம்பார்கள்; என் வாக்குக்குச் செவிகொடார்கள்; கர்த்தர் உனக்குத் தரிசனமாகவில்லை என்று சொல்லுவார்கள்” (யாத்.4:1), “நான் வாக்குவல்லவன் அல்ல; நான் திக்குவாயும் மந்த நாவும் உள்ளவன்” (யாத்.4:10), “ஆண்டவரே, நீர் அனுப்பச் சித்தமாயிருக்கிற யாரையாகிலும் அனுப்பும்” (யாத்.4: 13). மோசேயின் எல்லா சந்தேகங்களுக்கும் கேள்விகளுக்கும் தேவன் பொறுமையாகப் பதில் சொன்னதை நாம் வாசிக்கிறோம். ஆயினும், மோசே தன் விருப்பமின்மையையும், வேறு யாரையாவது அனுப்பும் என்று சொன்ன போது, தேவன் மோசேயின்மேல் கோபமடைந்தார். இரண்டு காரியங்களை நாம் இங்கு கற்றுக் கொள்கிறோம்: தம் ஜனங்களின் கஷ்டங்களைக் குறித்து தேவன் கரிசனையுள்ளவராக இருக்கிறார், தம் விடுதலையின் செய்தியை அறிவிக்க தேவன் நம்மை அழைக்கும்போது நாம் தயக்கமின்றி கீழ்ப்படியவேண்டும். 

பயன்பாடு: என் தயக்கங்களையும், பயங்களையும் வெளிப்படுத்தி நான் எத்தனை முறை தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிய மனமில்லாதவனாக இருந்திருக்கிறேன்! சில நேரங்களில், என் பயங்கள், சந்தேகங்கள், மற்றும் பிரச்சனைகள் போன்றவை நான் சேவிக்கும் தேவனை விட மிகப் பெரிதுபோல எனக்குத் தோன்றி இருக்கிறது. என்னை அவருடைய வேலைக்கு அழைக்கும் தேவன் என் தேவைகள் அனைத்தையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறார் என்றும், அதைச் செய்வதற்கான பலத்தையும் தருகிறார் என்பதையும் பற்றி நான் முழு நிச்சயத்துடன் இருக்க வேண்டும். ஆச்சரியமான இரட்சகர், சர்வ வல்லமையுள்ள தேவன்! நான் அவரை எக்காலத்திலும் நம்ப முடியும். அவரைப் போல வேறொருவரும் இல்லை. 

ஜெபம்:  தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, உம் அன்பு மற்றும் கரிசனைக்காக நன்றி. என்னை மன்னியும் தேவனே, உம் வார்த்தைக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிவதற்குப் பதிலாக அனேக முறை நான் சாக்குப் போக்குகளைச் சொல்லி விலக முயற்சி செய்திருக்கிறேன். உம்மைப் பார்ப்பதற்குப் பதிலாக, நான் என் பலவீனங்களைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்திருக்கிறேன். என் தேவனே, நான் எப்பொழுதும் உம்மையே நோக்கிப் பார்க்க எனக்கு உதவும். என் செயல்கள் மற்றும் கீழ்ப்படிதல் மூலமாக நான் உம்மீது கொண்டிருக்கும் அன்பைக் காட்ட என்னை பெலப்படுத்தும். ஆமென்.

My excuses to God the Savior

READ: Exodus 3, 4; Psalm 27; Matthew 14:1-21.

SCRIPTURE: Exodus 3: 7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them...10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

OBSERVATION: Notice the verbs in the selected passage. God who sees, hears, and concerns for his people came down to deliver them from slavery. He appeared to Moses "in flames of fire from within a bush" and commissioned him. But, what Moses did! He was saying his excuses after excuses, five in total. Some may think that they are genuine doubts or questions. " “Who am I that I should go...?"(Exo.3:11), "What is his (God's) name? Then what shall I tell them?"(Exo.3:13), "What if they do not believe me or listen to me...?" (Exo.4:1), "I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue” (Exo.4:10), "Lord. Please send someone else" (Exo.4:13)   Here, we read that God patiently answered Moses's all questions and doubts. However, when Moses expressed his unwillingness and asked God to find someone else, God was angry with Moses. We learn two things here: God is concerned about the suffering of his people, when God calls us to tell his message of deliverance we must obey.

APPLICATION: How many times I was reluctant to obey God by telling my hesitations and fears! Sometimes, my fears, doubts and problems appeared bigger than the God I serve. I  should remember and be confident that the Lord who calls me knows my every need and gives his strength to do his work. Amazing savior, almighty God! I can trust him. There is none like him. 

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for your love and care.  Forgive me, O God! Many times, I have said my excuses instead of obeying your words.  Instead of looking at you, I was seeing my weaknesses. My God! help me to see you always,  and strengthen me to show my love through my actions and obedience to your word.  Amen.

Jesus, who are you to me?

  READ: Exodus 1, 2; Psalm 26; Matthew 13:31-58

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 13:54 Coming to his hometown, he began teaching the people in their synagogue, and they were amazed. “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers?” they asked. 55 “Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother’s name Mary, and aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon and Judas? 56 Aren’t all his sisters with us? Where then did this man get all these things?” 57 And they took offense at him.

OBSERVATION: Before Jesus' arrival to his hometown, the people of Nazareth might have heard of all the miracles he did, his command over the wind and sea, his powerful and authoritative teaching that amazed its hearers. However, when they had a direct opportunity to hear the teaching of Jesus, although they too "were amazed", they failed to see the great teacher who stood in front of them. Rather, they were looking at his family background, social status, and his family members. In other words, they were saying that we know this man who grew up in front of our own eyes, we know that which family he belongs i.e. a person from an ordinary family, and we know well even his family members and their names. So they may have concluded that there was nothing special in Jesus and his teaching. Instead of appreciating and accepting Jesus, they did the opposite and "they took offense at him."  Because they were looking at only his earthly connections, not his connection with the Father God. When the people failed to see Jesus who he really was, they were eventually not able to see Jesus' miracles among them.

APPLICATION: How I see and accept Jesus play a vital role in my life. I should not allow any prejudice or any wrong perception about Jesus that would affect the way I see him. People may say different things and present different pictures about Jesus. However, what the bible says about Jesus is important to me. If I do not accept and honor Jesus in my life, I cannot see his miracles in my life. Jesus is the amazing teacher to hear and to follow. I see Jesus as the bible says, not according to what others say.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, when people say different things about you, help me to look at the scripture to understand and to believe what it says. Oh my savior, give me your strength to obey and to follow you always. Amen.

இயேசுவே, நீர் எனக்கு யார்?

 வாசிக்க: யாத்திராகமம் 1, 2; சங்கீதம் 26; மத்தேயு 13:31-58

வேதவசனம்:  மத்தேயு 13:53. இயேசு இந்த உவமைகளைச் சொல்லி முடித்தபின்பு, அவ்விடம் விட்டு, 54. தாம் வளர்ந்த ஊரிலே வந்து, அவர்களுடைய ஜெபஆலயத்திலே அவர்களுக்கு உபதேசம்பண்ணினார். அவர்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டு: இவனுக்கு இந்த ஞானமும் பலத்த செய்கைகளும் எப்படி வந்தது?  55. இவன் தச்சனுடைய குமாரன் அல்லவா? இவன் தாய் மரியாள் என்பவள் அல்லவா? யாக்கோபு, யோசே, சீமோன், யூதா என்பவர்கள் இவனுக்குச் சகோதரர் அல்லவா? 56. இவன் சகோதரிகளெல்லாரும் நம்மிடத்தில் இருக்கிறார்கள் அல்லவா? இப்படியிருக்க, இதெல்லாம் இவனுக்கு எப்படி வந்தது? என்று சொல்லி, 57. அவரைக்குறித்து இடறலடைந்தார்கள். 

கவனித்தல்: இயேசு தான் வளர்ந்த ஊராகிய நாசரேத்துக்கு வருவதற்கு முன்பே, அங்கு வாழ்ந்த மக்கள் இயேசு செய்த அற்புதங்களைப் பற்றியும், இயேசு காற்றையும் கடலையும் அதட்டி அமைதிப்படுத்தியதைப் பற்றியும், இயேசுவின் வல்லமையான மற்றும் அதிகாரம் நிறைந்த போதனைகள் அதைக் கேட்டவர்களை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்தியதையும் பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டிருப்பார்கள். ஆயினும், இயேசுவின் போதனையை நேரடியாகக் கேட்க ஒரு வாய்ப்பு அவர்களுக்குக் கிடைத்த போது, அவர்களும் ஆச்சரியமடைந்தாலும், தங்களுக்கு முன் இருந்த ஒரு மாபெரும் போதகரைக் காணத் தவறிவிட்டார்கள். மாறாக, அவர்கள் இயேசுவின் குடும்பப் பின்னணி, அவர்களின் சமுதாய அந்தஸ்து, மற்றும் அவருடைய குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்களைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தனர். வேறு விதமாகச் சொல்வதானால், எங்களுக்கு முன்பாக வளர்ந்த இந்த இயேசுவைப் பற்றி எங்களுக்குத் தெரியாதா என்றும், அவர் குடும்பப் பின்னணி சாதாரணமானது என்றும், அவர்கள் குடும்பத்தில் உள்ளவர்கள் மற்றும் அவர்களின் பெயர்களைக் கூட எங்களுக்குத் தெரியும் என சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள். ஆகவே, இயேசுவிலும் அவருடைய போதனையிலும் எந்தச் சிறப்பும் இல்லை என அவர்கள் முடிவு செய்திருக்கக் கூடும். இயேசுவைப் பாராட்டி ஏற்றுக் கொள்வதற்குப் பதிலாக, அவர்கள் அதற்கு நேரெதிரானதைச் செய்தார்கள் என்றும் “அவரைக்குறித்து இடறலடைந்தார்கள்” என்றும் வாசிக்கிறோம். ஏனெனில் அவர்கள் இயேசுவின் பூமிக்குரிய தொடர்புகள் மற்றும் உறவுகளை மட்டுமே பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள், பிதாவாகிய தேவனுடன் அவருக்கு இருந்த தொடர்பைப் பார்க்கத் தவறினார்கள். இயேசு உண்மையில் யார் என்பதை மக்கள் பார்க்கத் தவறியபோது, முடிவில் இயேசுவின் அற்புதங்களை  அவர்களால் தங்கள் வாழ்வில் காண முடியாமல் போயிற்று.

பயன்பாடு: நான் இயேசுவை எப்படிப் பார்க்கிறேன், ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிறேன் என்பது என் வாழ்க்கையில் ஒரு முக்கிய பங்கை வகிக்கிறது. நான் இயேசுவைச் சரியான முறையில் பார்ப்பதை பாதிக்கக் கூடிய, அவரைப் பற்றிய எந்த தப்பெண்ணத்திற்கும் தவறான கருத்துக்கும் என் மனதில் நான் இடம் கொடுக்கக் கூடாது. இயேசுவைப் பற்றி மற்றவர்கள் பல்வேறு விஷயங்களைச் சொல்லலாம், இயேசுவைப் பற்றிய வித்தியாசமான பிம்பங்களை அல்லது படங்களை என் முன் வைக்கக் கூடும். ஆயினும், இயேசுவைப் பற்றி, அவர் யார் என்று பரிசுத்த வேதாகமம் என்னச் சொல்கிறது என்பதுதான் எனக்கு முக்கியமானது ஆகும். நான் இயேசுவை என் வாழ்க்கையில் ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு, அவரைக் கனப்படுத்தவில்லை எனில், என் வாழ்க்கையில் அவருடைய அற்புதங்களைக் காண முடியாது. நான் கேட்டு இன்புறவும், பின்பற்றவும் ஆச்சரியமான போதகர் இயேசுவே. மற்றவர்கள் சொல்வது போல அல்ல, பரிசுத்த வேதாகமம் சொல்வது போலவே நான் இயேசுவைப் பார்க்கிறேன். 

ஜெபம்: ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவே, உம்மைப் பற்றி மற்ற மனிதர்கள் வித்தியாசமான காரியங்களைச் சொல்லும்போது, பரிசுத்த வேதாகமம் உம்மைப் பற்றி என்ன சொல்கிறது என்று பார்க்கவும், வேதம் சொல்வதையே நான் விசுவாசிக்கவும் எனக்கு உதவும். என் இரட்சகராகிய இயேசுவே, எப்பொழுதும் நான் உம்மைப் பின்பற்றவும், உமக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியவும் எனக்கு உம் சக்தியைத் தாரும். ஆமென்.

பரலோக ராஜ்ஜியத்தின் இரகசியம்

 வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  49, 50; சங்கீதம் 25; மத்தேயு 13:1-30

வேதவசனம்:  மத்தேயு 13:10. அப்பொழுது, சீஷர்கள் அவரிடத்தில் வந்து: ஏன் அவர்களோடே உவமைகளாகப் பேசுகிறீர் என்று கேட்டார்கள். 11. அவர்களுக்கு அவர் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: பரலோகராஜ்யத்தின் ரகசியங்களை அறியும்படி உங்களுக்கு அருளப்பட்டது, அவர்களுக்கோ அருளப்படவில்லை....16. உங்கள் கண்கள் காண்கிறதினாலும், உங்கள் காதுகள் கேட்கிறதினாலும், அவைகள் பாக்கியமுள்ளவைகள்.

கவனித்தல்: பரலோக ராஜ்ஜியம் பற்றிய மறைவான உண்மைகளைப் பற்றி விளக்க இயேசு உவமைகளைப் பயன்படுத்தினார். எல்லாருக்கும் நன்றாகத் தெரிந்த விஷயங்களைத்தான் இயேசு தன் உவமைகளில் பயன்படுத்தினார் என்றாலும், அவற்றின் அர்த்தமானது மறைவானதாக இருந்தது. ஆகவே, இயேசுவின் உவமைகளைக் கேட்டவர்கள் எல்லோரும் அதன் அர்த்தத்தை முழுமையாகப் புரிந்து கொள்ள வில்லை. தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையின் பொருளை புரிந்துகொள்ள மறுப்பவர்கள் இருந்தார்கள். மாறாக, தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையை தங்களுடைய வாழ்நாளில் கேட்கவும் காணவும் விரும்பி, அதைப் பெற முடியாமல் போன அனேக தீர்க்கதரிசிகளும் உண்டு. இங்கே இயேசு தன் சீடர்களிடம் “உங்களுக்குக் அது கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது” என்று சொல்வதைப் பார்க்கிறோம். தேவனுடைய ராஜ்ஜியத்தின் மறைபொருளைப் பற்றி  இயேசுவின் சீடர்கள் அறிந்து புரிந்து கொள்ள முடியும். அவர்கள் தேவனுடைய குமாரனையும் அவருடைய வார்த்தையையும் தங்கள் இருதயத்தில் ஏற்றுக் கொள்வதன் மூலம் மறைக்கப்பட்ட அவ்வுண்மைகளைப் புரிந்து கொள்கிறார்கள். அதன் பின்பு, அவர்கள் ஏற்றுக் கொண்ட தேவ வார்த்தையானது அவர்களுக்குள்ளும், அவர்கள் மூலமாகவும் தன் வேலையைச் செய்து, மிகுந்த பலனளிக்கிறது. தேவனுடைய ஜனங்களுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்ட இரகசியம் பற்றி அப்போஸ்தலனாகிய பவுல் சொல்லும் போது,  “கிறிஸ்துவானவர் மகிமையின் நம்பிக்கையாக உங்களுக்குள் இருப்பதே அந்த இரகசியம்” என்று சொல்கிறார் (கொலோ.1:27).

பயன்பாடு: நான் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையை வாசிக்கும்போது, தேவன் என்னிடம் என்ன பேச விரும்புகிறார் என்பதைக் கற்றுக் கொள்ளவும் புரிந்து கொள்ளவும் நான் திறந்த மனதுடையவனாக இருக்க வேண்டும். அனேகருக்கு மறைபொருளாக இருந்த இரகசியங்களைப் பற்றி அறிந்து புரிந்து கொள்கிற பாக்கியத்தை தேவன் எனக்குத் தந்திருக்கிறார். ஆயினும், நான் அதைப் புரிந்துகொண்டு, என் வாழ்வில் அதைப் பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும்.  தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையானது என்னில் செயல்பட நான் அனுமதிக்கும் போது, நான் மிகுந்த பலன் கொடுக்கிறவனாக இருப்பேன்.

ஜெபம்: இயேசுவே, உம்மை என் ஆண்டவராக அறிந்து கொள்ளவும், உம் வார்த்தையைப் புரிந்து கொள்ளவும் நீர் எனக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கிற பாக்கியத்திற்காக நன்றி. நீர் இன்று என்னுடன் பேசுகிறதற்காக நன்றி.  நான் உம் வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டுக் கீழ்ப்படிய எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

The secrets of the Kingdom of God

 READ: Genesis 49, 50; Psalm 25; Matthew 13:1-30

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 13:10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” 11 He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them...16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.

OBSERVATION: Jesus, the master communicator used parables to explain the hidden mysteries of the kingdom of God.  Although Jesus' parables contain things that are familiar to all, they have hidden meanings. Therefore, not everyone who hears it understand the meaning of Jesus' parables. Many people refused to understand the meaning of God's word. On the other hand, many prophets who longed to hear and to see it were not able to do in in their lifetime. Here, Jesus is saying to his disciples, it is "given to you." Jesus' disciples can understand the knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. They understand those hidden mysteries by accepting the son of God and his word in their heart. Then his word does its work in and through them. Apostle Paul says of the hidden mystery revealed to Lord's people, "Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col.1:27).

APPLICATION: When I read the word of God, I need to be open-minded to learn and to understand what God wants to speak with me. God has given me the privilege to understand the knowledge of the mysteries that was hidden for ages and generations. However, I need to comprehend his word and to apply in my life. I will be fruitful when I allow God's word to do its work.

PRAYER: Jesus, thank you for the privilege to know you as my Lord, and to understand your word. Thank you for speaking with me today. Help me to listen and to obey.  Amen.

Heart matters

  READ: Genesis 47, 48; Psalm 24; Matthew 12:31-50

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 12:34 For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 35 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

OBSERVATION: In order to justify what we said, sometimes we say "God knows my heart." However, we need to remember that "a word spoken cannot be recalled." Here Jesus gives us a warning about the words we speak in our day to day life. Our words reflect what is stored up in our hearts. Empty words reveal the status of an empty heart and there is a great danger in it (Mt.12:43-45). On the other hand, a good word that comes out of a person's mouth has dual benefits: it saves the person who speaks, and can be useful for others who listen as well. The Bible has many verses that tell us about good words and bad words. The power of life and death is in our words(Proverbs 18:21). We have the option to choose it. We can confess about Jesus and can be saved (Rom.10:9-10). Like a good tree produces only good fruits, only good words come from a good heart. "Praise and cursing" cannot come from the mouth of the same person (James 3:9-12). 

APPLICATION: "Every word" I speak plays an important role in my life. It indicates that EVERYDAY I need to be careful about my words, whether I come before God or speak with other men/women. I need to store God's word in my heart to keep myself  away from any sin (Ps.119:11). Instead of speaking empty and meaningless words, Everyday I should speak good words that help other people to know about the good God I serve and his goodness. God fills my heart with his joy and peace  (Ps.4:7-8). So I will speak words that would give joy and peace to others. 

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for the reminder about speaking good words. Speaking good words is an opportunity to speak what you have done for us. Help me to speak about the goodness of you and your words . May your Holy Spirit help me to speak the right word that touches/heals a heart. Amen.

இது இதயம் சம்பந்தப் பட்டது

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  47, 48; சங்கீதம் 24; மத்தேயு 12:31-50

வேதவசனம்:  மத்தேயு 12:34 இருதயத்தின் நிறைவினால் வாய் பேசும். 35. நல்ல மனுஷன் இருதயமாகிய நல்ல பொக்கிஷத்திலிருந்து நல்லவைகளை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறான், பொல்லாத மனுஷன் பொல்லாத பொக்கிஷத்திலிருந்து பொல்லாதவைகளை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறான். 36. மனுஷர் பேசும் வீணான வார்த்தைகள் யாவையும் குறித்து நியாயத்தீர்ப்புநாளிலே கணக்கொப்புவிக்கவேண்டும் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன். 37. ஏனெனில், உன் வார்த்தைகளினாலே நீதிமான் என்று தீர்க்கப்படுவாய்; அல்லது உன் வார்த்தைகளினாலே குற்றவாளி என்று தீர்க்கப்படுவாய் என்றார்.

கவனித்தல்: நாம் பேசிய வார்த்தைகளை நியாயப்படுத்துவதற்காக, சில நேரங்களில் “நான் என்ன நினைத்தேன் என்பது கடவுளுக்குத் தெரியும்” என்று நாம் சொல்கிறோம். ஆயினும்,  “நெல்லை சிந்தினால் அள்ளிவிடலாம், சொல்லைச் சிந்தினால் அள்ள முடியாது” என்று பெரியவர்கள் சொல்வது போல, நாம் பேசிய வார்த்தைகள் “திரும்பப் பெற முடியாதவை” என்பதை நினைவில் கொள்ள வேண்டும். நம் அனுதின வாழ்வில் பேசுகிற வார்த்தைகளைப் பற்றிய ஒரு எச்சரிக்கையை இயேசு நமக்குத் தருகிறார். நாம் பேசும் வார்த்தைகள் நம் இருதயத்தில் என்ன சேர்த்து வைத்திருக்கிறோம் என்பதை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றன. வெற்று வார்த்தைகள் இருதயத்தின் வெறுமையைப் பற்றிச் சொல்கிறது. வெறுமையான இருதயம் பிசாசின் கூடாரம் ஆகிவிடும் ஆபத்து இருக்கிறது (மத்.12:43-45). மாறாக, நல்ல இருதயத்தில் இருந்து வரும் நல்ல வார்த்தைகள் இருமடங்கு பலன்களை தருவதாக இருக்கிறது. பேசுகிறவர்களுக்கு இரட்சிப்பையும் பாதுகாப்பையும், கேட்கிறவர்களுக்கும் பயனுள்ளதாகவும் இருக்கிறது. நல்ல வார்த்தைகள் மற்றும் கெட்ட/தீய வார்த்தைகள் பற்றி வேதாகமத்தில் பல வசனங்கள் உண்டு. மரணத்துக்கும் ஜீவனுக்குமான அதிகாரம் நம் வார்த்தைகளில் உண்டு (நீதி.18:21). அதைத் (மரணம் அல்லது ஜீவனை) தெரிவு செய்வது நம் கைகளில் இருக்கிறது. நாம் இயேசுவைப் பற்றி அறிக்கை செய்து இரட்சிப்பைப் பெறலாம் (ரோமர் 10:9-10). நல்ல மரமானது நல்ல கனிகளை மட்டுமே கொடுப்பது போல, நல்ல இருதயத்தில் இருந்து நல்ல வார்த்தைகள் மட்டுமே வரும். ஒரே மனிதரின் வாயிலிருந்து ”துதித்தலும் சபித்தலும்” வெளிவர முடியாது (யாக்கோபு 3:9-12).

பயன்பாடு: என் வாழ்க்கையில் நான் பேசுகிற ஒவ்வொரு வார்த்தையும் முக்கியமான பங்கு வகிக்கிறது. நான் தேவன் முன்பாக இருந்தாலும் சரி அல்லது மனிதர் முன்பு இருந்தாலும் சரி, ஒவ்வொரு நாளும் நான் பேசுகிற வார்த்தைகளைக் குறித்து கவனமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். பாவத்தில் இருந்து என்னை விலக்கிக் காத்துக் கொள்ள, நான் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையை என் இருதயத்தில் சேர்த்து வைக்க வேண்டும் (சங்.119:11).  வெறுமையான மற்றும் அர்த்தமற்ற வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுவதற்குப் பதிலாக, நான் சேவிக்கும் நல்ல தேவனைப் பற்றிய, அவருடைய நன்மைகளைப் பற்றிய வார்த்தைகளை அனுதினமும் பேசவேண்டும். தேவன் என் இருதயத்தை மகிழ்ச்சியினாலும் சமாதானத்தினாலும் நிரப்பி இருக்கிறார் (சங்.4:7-8). ஆகவே, மற்றவர்களுக்கு மகிழ்ச்சியையும் சமாதானத்தையும் தருகிற வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுவேன்.

ஜெபம்:  தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, நல்ல வார்த்தைகளையே நான் பேசவேண்டும் என்று நினைவுபடுத்துவதற்காக உமக்கு நன்றி. நல்ல வார்த்தைகளைப் பேசுவது என்பது நீர் எனக்குச் செய்த நன்மைகளைப் பற்றிப் பேச எனக்கு உள்ள ஒரு வாய்ப்பு. உம்மைப் பற்றியும் உம் வார்த்தைகளின் நன்மை பற்றியும் பேச எனக்கு உதவும். இதயத்தைத் தொடுகிற/குணமாக்குகிற சரியான வார்த்தையை நான் பேச உம் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் எனக்கு உதவுவாராக.  ஆமென்.

ஆதலால் நீங்கள் அல்ல, தேவனே....

  வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  45, 46; சங்கீதம் 23; மத்தேயு 12:1-30

வேதவசனம்:  ஆதியாகமம்  45:8 ஆதலால் நீங்கள் அல்ல, தேவனே என்னை இவ்விடத்துக்கு அனுப்பி, என்னைப் பார்வோனுக்குத் தகப்பனாகவும், அவர் குடும்பம் அனைத்திற்கும் கர்த்தனாகவும், எகிப்துதேசம் முழுதுக்கும் அதிபதியாகவும் வைத்தார்.

கவனித்தல்: தேவன் தன் வாழ்க்கையில் செய்தவைகளை தன் சகோதரர்கள் புரிந்து கொள்ளவேண்டும் என யோசேப்பு  விளக்க முயற்சி செய்வதை நாம் பார்க்கிறோம்.தன் சகோதரர்களிடம் தன்னைப் பற்றி வெளிப்படுத்துகையில், யோசேப்பு அடிக்கடி “தேவன்” என்று சொல்வதைக் கவனியுங்கள். ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக கொண்டு வரப்படுகிற வரைக்கும், யோசேப்பின் வாழ்க்கை அவன் விரும்பாத மோசமான நிகழ்வுகளாலும், கஷ்டங்களாலும் நிறைந்திருந்தது. வெளிப்புறமாக பார்க்கையில், யோசேப்பு தன் சகோதரர்களால் வெறுக்கப்பட்டார், அடிமையாக விற்கப்பட்டார், தவறேதும் செய்யாமல் (உண்மையில் தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாக பாவம் செய்ய மாட்டேன் என்று உறுதிகாக இருந்தார்) சிறையில் அடைக்கப்பட்டார். ஆனால் தேவன் யோசேப்புடன் இருந்தார், அவனை எல்லாவற்றிலும் காரியசித்தி உள்ளவனாக்கி, அவன் செய்த எல்லாவற்றையும் வாய்க்கப் பண்ணினார். யோசேப்புடைய வாழ்க்கையில், மற்றவர்கள் அவனைக் குறித்து பலவித (பெரும்பாலும் தீய) திட்டங்களை வைத்திருந்தனர். ஆனால் தேவனும் அவனுடைய வாழ்க்கையைக் குறித்து  ஒரு திட்டம் வைத்திருந்தார்- அது அழிவிற்கான திட்டம் அல்ல. மாறாக, அது  இரட்சிப்பின் திட்டம் ஆகும். யோசேப்பு தன் வாழ்க்கையில் சந்தித்த ஒவ்வொரு பாடுகளும் அல்லது அநீதியும் தேவனிடமும், தேவனுடைய திட்டத்திற்கும் அவன் நெருங்கி அருகில் வர உதவி செய்தன. அடிமையாக விற்கப்பட்டு 20 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பின், யோசேப்பு தன் சகோதரர்களிடம் தேவன் எப்படி தன்னை 13 ஆண்டுகளில் எகிப்தின் அதிகாரம் நிறைந்த ஒரு பதவியில் இருக்கிற ஒரு நபராக உயர்த்தினார் என்பதைச் சொன்னார். யோசேப்பு மரண இருளின் பள்ளத்தாக்கைக் கடந்து செல்ல தேவன் அவனை வழிநடத்தினார். 

பயன்பாடு: என் வாழ்க்கையைக் குறித்து தேவன் ஒரு திட்டம் வைத்திருக்கிறார் என்று நான் விசுவாசிக்கிறேன்.  என் வாழ்க்கையில் நான் கடினமான பாதைகளையோ அல்லது கஷ்டங்களையோ எதிர்கொள்ள நேரிடலாம். ஆனால் எனக்கு உதவவும், என்னுடனே இருக்கவும் என் தேவன் இருக்கிறார். அவர் என் மேய்ப்பர். அவர் என் வழியை அறிந்திருக்கிறார். நான் மரண இருளின் பள்ளத்தாக்கையும் கடந்து செல்ல அவர் வழிகாட்டுகிறார். நான் அவருடைய பராமரிப்பின்/கவனிப்பின் கீழ் இருக்கும் வரைக்கும், அவருடைய வழிநடத்துதலின் படி நான் அவருடன் நடக்கிற வரைக்கும், “நன்மையும் கிருபையும் என்னைத் தொடரும்” என்று நான் நம்ப முடியும். 

ஜெபம்:  தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, நீர் அதிசயங்களைச் செய்கிற தேவன்.  உம் வழிகள் ஆராயப்பட முடியாதவைகள்! உம்மை நம்பிக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறவர்களுக்கு நீர் சாத்தியமில்லாதவைகளையும் நடைபெற சாத்தியமுள்ளவைகளாக மாற்றுகிறீர். இன்றும், என்றும் உம்முடனே நடக்க எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

BUT GOD!

 READ: Genesis 45, 46; Psalm 23; Matthew 12:1-30

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 45: 8 So now it was not you who sent me here, but God; and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.

OBSERVATION: Joseph was trying to explain his brothers to understand what God did in his life. Notice his repeated use of the word "God" while he revealed himself to his brothers. Until Joseph was brought before the King, his life had been filled with untoward events and miseries. Outwardly, he was disliked by his brothers, sold as a slave, imprisoned without doing any mistake (in fact, refused to sin against God). But God was with him, and made Joseph successful in everything. In Joseph's life, others had different (mostly evil) plans for him, BUT GOD had a plan for his life. Every suffering or injustice Joseph faced in his life actually helped him to come near God and his plan - it was a plan of God's salvation. About 20 years after he was sold as a slave, now Joseph told his brothers that how God made him a powerful person of Egypt within 13 years. God led Joseph to pass through "the valley of shadow of death." Amazing Grace!

APPLICATION: I believe that God has a plan for my life. At times, I may face or go through difficulties in my life. But God is there to help and to be with me.  He is my Shepherd. He knows my path and guides me even through the valley of death. As long as I am under his care and walk with him in his guidance, I can be assured that "goodness and love will follow me."

PRAYER: Father God, you are the wonder-working God. Your ways are inscrutable! My God, you make the impossible things to become possible, for those who trust and obey you. Help me to walk with you today and forever. Amen.

My God, Why God?

READ: Genesis 43, 44; Psalm 22; Matthew 11:20-30

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 22: 7 All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, 8 “He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!”

OBSERVATION: David must have written this Psalm during one of his tough times when he felt abandoned and humiliated by others. This Psalm gives a picture of a righteous sufferer who trusts in God. When we read this Psalm, we see how aptly it  fits with the passion narrative of Jesus Christ. Spurgeon rightly says this is "The Psalm of the Cross." As David expresses his agony and his heart cry, he is not only describing his sorrowful state, but asks for God's help and says of what he would do after God's deliverance. People who see the sufferings of another person may despise and disdain him/her. BUT GOD always listens to the prayers of such sufferers and delivers them (Ps.22:24). And they will praise God in the end. "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 5:10).

APPLICATION: If I live a life that conforms with worldliness, people would welcome and accept me. But, when I start to live a committed life for God, I may face sufferings, mockery, and rejection from others. However, I can call upon my God for help. Though no one is with me, when I feel that I am abandoned by all, even when I feel like God also deserted me, I can pray to God. My weakness hinders me to see God's face and his nearness. But when I pray to God and ask his help, I can see him again and will be able to see his mighty acts of deliverance.

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for being my God.  Thank you for your Love, thank you for the Cross. When I go through difficult times in my life, help me to ask "for what ", instead of asking you "Why God." You have a plan and purpose for my life. I will trust in you always. Nothing can separate me from my God. Amen.

என் தேவனே! ஏன் தேவனே?

 வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  43, 44; சங்கீதம் 22; மத்தேயு 11:20-30

வேதவசனம்: சங்கீதம் 22: 7. என்னைப் பார்க்கிறவர்களெல்லாரும் என்னைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணி, உதட்டைப் பிதுக்கி, தலையைத் துலுக்கி: 8. கர்த்தர்மேல் நம்பிக்கையாயிருந்தானே, அவர் இவனை விடுவிக்கட்டும்; இவன்மேல் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறாரே, இப்பொழுது இவனை மீட்டுவிடட்டும் என்கிறார்கள்.

கவனித்தல்: மற்றவர்களால் கைவிடப்பட்டதாகவும் சிறுமைப்படுத்தப் பட்டதாகவும் உணர்ந்த மிகக் கடினமான ஒரு சமயத்தில் தாவீது இந்த சங்கீதத்தை எழுதியிருப்பார் என்று கருதலாம். தேவன் மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைத்து, பாடுபடுகிற ஒரு நீதிமானைப் பற்றிய பிம்பத்தை இந்த சங்கீதம் தருகிறது. இந்தச் சங்கீதத்தை நாம் வாசிக்கும்போது, இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவின் பாடுகளைப் பற்றிய விவரத்துடன் எப்படி பொருந்துகிறது என்பதை நாம் காண்கிறோம். இந்த சங்கீதம் “சிலுவையின் சங்கீதம்” என ஸ்பர்ஜன் மிகச் சரியாகச் சொல்கிறார். தாவீது தன் வேதனையையும், இருதயத்தின் குமுறலையும் வெளிப்படுத்தும் போது, அவர் தன் வருந்தத்தக்க நிலையை மட்டும் பற்றிச் சொல்லவில்லை. மாறாக, தேவனுடைய உதவியைக் கேட்பதையும், தேவன் விடுவித்த பின்பு அவர் என்ன செய்வார் என்று சொல்வதையும் நாம் பார்க்கிறோம். ஒருவரின் பாடுகளை/கஷ்டங்களைப் பார்க்கும் மக்கள், அந்நபரைப் பரியாசம் பண்ணி, இழிவாகப் பேசி, வெறுத்து ஒதுக்கக் கூடும். ஆனால் தேவனோ அப்படிப் பாடுபடுபவர்களின்/கஷ்டப்படுபவர்களின் ஜெபங்களை எப்பொழுதும் கேட்டு, அவர்களை விடுவிக்கிறார் (சங்.22:24). முடிவில், அவர்கள் தேவனைத் துதிப்பார்கள்.    “நீதியினிமித்தம் துன்பப்படுகிறவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; பரலோகராஜ்யம் அவர்களுடையது” (மத்தேயு 5:10).

பயன்பாடு:  உலகத்திற்கு ஒத்த/இணக்கமான ஒரு வாழ்க்கையை நான் வாழ்ந்தால், ஜனங்கள் என்னை வரவேற்று ஏற்றுக் கொள்வார்கள். ஆனால், நான் தேவனுக்காக அர்ப்பணிப்புள்ள ஒரு வாழ்க்கையை வாழத் துவங்கும்போது, நான் பாடுகளையும், உபத்திரவங்களையும், பரியாசங்களையும் மற்றவர்களின் புறக்கணிப்பையும் எதிர்கொள்ள நேரிடலாம். ஆயினும், நான் தேவனுடைய உதவியை அப்பொழுது கேட்க முடியும். எவரும் என்னுடன் இல்லை என்றாலும், எல்லாரும் என்னைப் புறக்கணித்து விட்டதாக நான் நினைக்கும் போதும், தேவனே என்னை விட்டு விலகிவிட்டதாக எனக்குத் தோன்றும்போதும் கூட, நான் தேவனை நோக்கி ஜெபிக்க முடியும். தேவனுடைய முகத்தையும், அவர் எனக்கு அருகில் இருப்பதையும் காணமுடியாதபடி என் பலவீனம் என்னைத் தடுக்கிறது. ஆனால், நான் தேவனை நோக்கி ஜெபித்து, அவருடைய உதவியைக் கேட்கும்போது, அவரையும், அவருடைய வல்லமையான விடுதலையையும் நான் மறுபடியும் பார்க்க முடியும். 

ஜெபம்:  தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, நீர் என் தேவனாக இருப்பதற்காக நன்றி. உம் அன்பிற்காக, சிலுவையில் நீர் எனக்காகப் பட்டப் பாடுகளுக்காக நன்றி. என் வாழ்க்கையில் நான் கடினமான தருணங்களினூடாகச் செல்லும் சமயங்களில், “ஏன் தேவனே” என்று கேட்பதற்குப் பதிலாக, “எதற்காக” இதை அனுமதித்தீர் என்று உம்மிடம் கேட்க எனக்கு உதவும். நீர் எனக்காக ஒரு நோக்கத்தையும் திட்டத்தையும் வைத்திருக்கிறீர். நான் உம்மை எக்காலத்திலும் நம்புவேன். என் தேவனிடம் இருந்து எதுவும் என்னைப் பிரிக்கமுடியாது. ஆமென்.

சந்தேகம் வரும் சமயங்களில் என்ன செய்வது?

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  41, 42; சங்கீதம் 21; மத்தேயு 11:1-19

வேதவசனம்: மத்தேயு 11:2. அத்தருணத்தில் காவலிலிருந்த யோவான் கிறிஸ்துவின் கிரியைகளைக்குறித்துக் கேள்விப்பட்டு, தன் சீஷரில் இரண்டுபேரை அழைத்து: 3. வருகிறவர் நீர்தானா? அல்லது வேறொருவர் வரக்காத்திருக்கவேண்டுமா? என்று அவரிடத்தில் கேட்கும்படி அனுப்பினான்....6. என்னிடத்தில் இடறலடையாதிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ அவன் பாக்கியவான் என்றார்.

கவனித்தல்: யோவான்ஸ்நானகன் சிறையில் இருந்த போது, மேசியாவாகிய இயேசு இருக்கும் இக்காலத்தில் நான் ஏன் சிறைச்சாலையில் இன்னமும் இருந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறேன் என அவன் நினைத்திருக்கக் கூடும். மேசியாவின் வருகையைப் பற்றி எல்லோருக்கும் அறிவித்த காலத்தில் இருந்து, தேவ பயம், பக்தி  இல்லாத ஆட்சியில் இருந்து தேவ ஜனங்களை மேசியா காப்பாற்றுவார் என்று மற்ற யூதர்களைப் போல யோவானும் மேசியாவின் அரசாட்சியைக் குறித்த எதிர்பார்ப்புடன் இருந்திருக்கலாம். ஆகவே, இயேசுவின் ஊழியத்தையும், அவர் ஊழியத்தில் செய்தவைகளையும் பற்றிக் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, இயேசு உண்மையிலேயே மேசியாதானா என்பதைப் பற்றிய தன் சந்தேகங்களை தெளிவுபடுத்திக் கொள்ள அவன் விரும்பி இருக்கக் கூடும். யோவான் ஸ்நானகனுக்கு இயேசு அனுப்பிய பதிலில், தீர்க்கதரிசின வார்த்தைகளின்படி மேசியாவின் உண்மையான ஊழியம் என்ன என்பதை நினைவுபடுத்தி, தேவனுடைய இராஜ்ஜியத்திற்காக இயேசுவின் வாழ்க்கை மற்றும் ஊழியத்தில் யோவானுடைய சீடர்கள் கண்டதையும் கேட்டதையும் போய் சொல்லச் சொல்கிறார். யோவான்ஸ்நானகனுக்கு எதிராக அல்லது அவரைப் பற்றி குறைவாக எதுவும் சொல்வதற்குப் பதிலாக, அவனைப் பற்றிய தன் சாட்சியை இயேசு கூறுகிறார், யோவான்ஸ்நானகன் சிறைச்சாலையில் இருந்தாலும், அவர் யார் என்பதை இயேசு அறிந்திருந்தார். 

பயன்பாடு: நான் அநீதியையும், என் எதிர்பார்ப்புகளின் படி அல்லாமல் எனக்கெதிரான காரியங்களால் சூழப்பட்டு கடினமான ஒரு காலத்தை எதிர்கொள்ள நேரிடும்போது,  “ஏன் கர்த்தாவே?” என்று சொல்லும் நேரங்களில், என் மனதில் சந்தேகம் எழும்பி, தேவன் மேல் உள்ள நம்பிக்கையையும் எதிர்ப்பார்ப்பையும் குலைத்துப் போடும் கேள்விகள் எனக்கு வரக் கூடும். ஆயினும், எனக்கு சந்தேகம் வரும் நேரங்களில் நான் யாரிடம் சென்று அதற்கான பதிலைக் கேட்க வேண்டும் என்பதை நான் அறிந்திருக்க வேண்டும். என் சந்தேகங்களைத் தீர்க்க வேண்டும் எனில், இயேசுவிடம் கேட்பதே மிகச் சரியான ஒரு வழிமுறை ஆகும். நான் இயேசுவிடம் வரும்போது, என் சந்தேகங்களுக்கு விடைகாண அவர் எனக்கு உதவி செய்வதுடன், என் விசுவாசத்தை அதிகரித்துக் கொள்ளவும் எனக்கு உதவுகிறார். அவர் என்னைப் பற்றி முழுமையாக அறிந்திருப்பதால், எனக்கு எப்படி உதவி செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதையும் அவர் அறிந்திருக்கிறார்.

ஜெபம்: தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, என் சந்தேகங்களுக்கு விடைகாண நீர் எனக்கு உதவுவதற்காக நன்றி. நான் மனச்சோர்வையும், தோல்விகளையும் சந்திப்பதாக உணரும் நேரங்களில் எல்லாம், நான் என் சூழ்நிலைகளையும், என் இழிவான நிலையையும் பார்ப்பதற்குப் பதிலாக, நான் உம்மையும் உம் கிரியைகளையும் பார்ப்பதற்கு எனக்கு உதவி செய்கிறீர்.  என் சந்தேகங்களைப் போக்கிக் கொள்ள நீர் காண்பிக்கும் உம் அன்பிற்காகவும், கரிசனைக்காகவும் நன்றி. ஆண்டவரே, என் விசுவாசத்தை வர்த்திக்கப் பண்ணும். ஆமென்.

Dealing with Your Doubts

 READ: Genesis 41, 42; Psalm 21; Matthew 11:1-19

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 11:2 When John, who was in prison, heard about the deeds of the Messiah, he sent his disciples 3 to ask him, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?”...6 Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.”

OBSERVATION: When John the Baptist was in prison, he may have wondered why should he spend his time in prison when Jesus the promised messiah was out there. Since the time he announced the arrival of the Messiah, he may had expectations of a royal rule from the Messiah that  he would save God's people from the rule of ungodly, like other Jews. So, when he heard about the deeds of Jesus, he may have wanted to clarify his doubts regarding Jesus whether he was truly the messiah. In his response to John the Baptist,  Jesus gently reminded him of the true mission of the Messiah as prophesized by the prophets, and asked John's disciples to report him what they witnessed in Jesus' life and ministry for the Kingdom of God. Instead of saying anything against John the Baptist, Jesus went on to give his testimony about him. Because, Jesus knew who John really was, although he was in prison.

APPLICATION: When I face injustice and go through a tough time surrounded by things contrary to my expectations, when I ask "Why Lord?",  doubts may come to my mind and raise questions about my faith and hope in God. However, when I experience doubts I should know whom to ask for my doubting questions.  Approaching Jesus is the best way to deal my doubts. When I come to Jesus, he helps to deal with my doubts and to increase my faith in him. Because he knows me fully, he knows how to help me as well. 

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for helping me to deal with my doubts. Whenever I feel depression and failures in my life, you help me to look at you and your works, instead of looking at my situations and my despicable state. Thank you for your love and care to deal with my doubts. Help me to increase my faith. Amen.

The Secret of Success

READ: Genesis 39, 40; Psalm 20; Matthew 10:27-42

SCRIPTURE: PSALM 20:7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.

OBSERVATION: Psalm 20 gives a picture of a godly person who stands in front of a powerful enemy, and of a liturgical prayer for his success. In those days, war chariots and horses were considered as symbols of an army's might. Here, we see that those chariots and horses were marching from the enemy's side. The battle scene we see here is, they (the enemies) are in chariots and in horses but we (who trust God) are in the name of our God. A collapse of a mighty army in front of a weak one which had no equal strength is unthinkable. However, the strong side is defeated. In today's world, money, job, education, family background, social status and such things are considered as factors for a success. However, when we are IN GOD, we can "rise up and stand firm" even when we have no power and strength as compared to others who have them all.

APPLICATION: I may not have all the required resources for a successful life. Still, I can be confident when I am in God. No matter what I face in my life. When God is with me and I am with God, he enables me to rise up and strengthen me to stand firm. God is the secret to my success in life. I put my trust in God always, for he never fails.

PRAYER: Father God who answers our prayers,  help me to put my trust in you and to live with you always. Amen.

வெற்றியின் இரகசியம்

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  39, 40; சங்கீதம் 20; மத்தேயு 10:27-42

வேதவசனம்: சங்கீதம் 20:7. சிலர் இரதங்களைக்குறித்தும், சிலர் குதிரைகளைக்குறித்தும் மேன்மைபாராட்டுகிறார்கள்; நாங்களோ எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தைக்குறித்தே மேன்மைபாராட்டுவோம். 8. அவர்கள் முறிந்து விழுந்தார்கள்; நாங்களோ எழுந்து நிமிர்ந்து நிற்கிறோம்.

கவனித்தல்:  பலம் பொருந்திய, வலிமையான ஒரு எதிரிக்கு முன் நிற்கும் தேவ மனிதனைப் பற்றியும், அவனுடைய வெற்றிக்கான ஒரு ஜெபத்தையும் பற்றி சங்கீதம் 20 கூறுகிறது. அந்நாட்களில், போர் இரதங்களும், குதிரைகளும் ஒரு இராணுவத்தின் வலிமையை வெளிப்படுத்துகிற அடையாளங்களாகக் கருதப்பட்டன. இங்கே, இரதங்களும் குதிரைகளும் எதிரியின் பக்கத்தில் இருந்து அணிவகுத்து வருவதை நாம் பார்க்கிறோம். நாம் இங்கு காணும் யுத்தக்காட்சி என்னவெனில், (எதிரிகளாகிய) அவர்கள் இரதங்களிலும் குதிரைகளிலும் இருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால் (தேவனை நம்புகிற) நாங்களோ எங்கள் தேவனுடைய நாமத்தில் இருக்கிறோம். சம வலிமையற்ற பலவீனமான ஒரு இராணுவத்திற்கு முன்பாக வல்லமை நிறைந்த ஒரு இராணுவம் தோற்றுப் போகும் என்பது நடைபெற சாத்தியமில்லாத ஒன்று. ஆயினும், வலிமையான எதிரிகள் தோற்கடிக்கப்பட்டனர். நாம் வாழும் இந்நாட்களில், பணம், பதவி, கல்வி, குடும்பச் செல்வாக்கு (அ) பின்புலம் , மற்றும் சமுதாய அந்தஸ்து போன்ற பல காரியங்கள் வெற்றிக்கான காரணிகளாக கருதப்படுகின்றன. ஆயினும், கர்த்தருக்குள் நாம் இருக்கும்போது, மற்றவர்களிடம் இருக்கும் எந்த பலமோ தகுதியோ நம்மிடம் இல்லையெனினும், நாம் எழுந்து நிமிர்ந்து நிற்க முடியும்.

பயன்பாடு: ஒரு வெற்றிகரமான வாழ்க்கைக்குத் தேவையானவை என மற்ற மனிதர்கள் கருதும் எதுவும் என்னிடம் இல்லாமல் இருந்தாலும், நான் கர்த்தருக்குள் இருக்கும்போது நம்பிக்கையுடன் உறுதியாக இருக்க முடியும். என் வாழ்க்கையில் எனக்கு எதிராக என்ன வந்தாலும் நான் கவலைப்படத் தேவை இல்லை. தேவன் என்னுடன் இருக்கும்போது மற்றும் நான் தேவனுடன் இருக்கும்போது, நான் எழுந்து நிமிர்ந்து நிற்க பெலத்தையும் வல்லமையையும் தேவன் தருகிறார். வாழ்க்கையில் என் வெற்றிக்கான இரகசியம் தேவனே! நான் எப்பொழுதும் தேவனை நம்புகிறேன். அவர் என்னை ஒருபோதும் கைவிடுவதில்லை.

ஜெபம்:  ஜெபங்களுக்குப் பதில்கொடுக்கிற தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, நான் எப்பொழுதும் உம்மையே நம்பி இருக்கவும், உம்முடன் வாழவும் எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

God's two books

READ: Genesis 37, 38; Psalm 19; Matthew 10:1-26

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 19: 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his  hands... 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul.....11 By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. 12 But who can discern their own errors?

OBSERVATION: Psalm 19 is an insightful song that reminds us of God's two great books. The one we are all familiar is the Bible.  The other one is, as the psalmist says, the nature. In other words,  one is the book of God's words, and the other one is the book of God's works. While God's works remind all people about the glory of God and reveal knowledge, the word of God refreshes the soul, makes people wise, gives "joy to a heart" and "light to the eyes." Moreover, it guides and warns a believer to live a blameless life before God.

APPLICATION: As I read Psalm 19, I understand the nature and the benefits of the word of God. When I read the  bible, I can enjoy all the benefits that are listed in this Psalm. However, without a personal application of God's word and realization of my "hidden faults" and "willful sins", I cannot experience the blessings of the word of God. God is able to help me when I pray for forgiveness and his protection. 

PRAYER: "May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer." Amen.

தேவன் தந்த இரண்டு புத்தகங்கள்

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  37, 38; சங்கீதம் 19; மத்தேயு 10:1-26

வேதவசனம்: சங்கீதம் 19: 1. வானங்கள் தேவனுடைய மகிமையை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறது, ஆகாயவிரிவு அவருடைய கரங்களின் கிரியையை அறிவிக்கிறது...7. கர்த்தருடைய வேதம் குறைவற்றதும், ஆத்துமாவை உயிர்ப்பிக்கிறதுமாயிருக்கிறது...11 அன்றியும் அவைகளால் உமது அடியேன் எச்சரிக்கப்படுகிறேன்; அவைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறதினால் மிகுந்த பலன் உண்டு. 12. தன் பிழைகளை உணருகிறவன் யார்?...

கவனித்தல்:  தேவன் நமக்குத் தந்த இரண்டு புத்தகங்களைப் பற்றி நினைவுபடுத்துகிற ஒரு பாடலாக சங்கீதம் 19 இருக்கிறது. ஒன்று, நாம் அனைவருக்கும் தெரிந்த பரிசுத்த வேதாகமம். மற்றொன்று, சங்கீதக் காரன் சொல்வது போல, தேவன் படைத்த இயற்கை. வேறு வார்த்தைகளில் சொல்வதானால், ஒன்று தேவனுடைய வார்த்தைகள் அடங்கிய புத்தகம் (the book of God's words), மற்றொன்று தேவனுடைய கரத்தின் கிரியைகளாகிய சிருஷ்டிப்பு புத்தகம் (the book of God's works). தேவன் படைத்த சிருஷ்டிப்புகள் எல்லா மனிதருக்கும் தேவனுடைய மகிமையை நினைவுபடுத்தி, அறிவை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறதாக இருக்கிறது. தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையோ ஆத்துமாவை உயிர்ப்பிக்கிறதாகவும், பேதையை ஞானியாக்குகிறதாகவும், இருதயத்தை மகிழ்விக்கிறதாகவும், மற்றும் கண்களுக்கு தெளிவை உண்டாக்குகிறதாகவும் இருக்கிறது. மேலும், தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக ஒரு உத்தம வாழ்க்கையை வாழ வேதப் புத்தகம் வழிகாட்டி எச்சரிக்கிறதாக இருக்கிறது.

பயன்பாடு: சங்கீதம் 19 ஐ வாசிக்கையில், நான் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையின் தன்மைகளையும், நன்மைகளையும் பற்றி அறிந்து கொள்கிறேன். வேதாகமத்தை வாசிக்கும்போது, இந்தச் சங்கீதத்தில் சொல்லப்பட்டிருக்கிற நன்மைகள் அனைத்தையும் நான் பெற்று அனுபவிக்க முடியும். ஆயினும், தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையை தனிப்பட்ட முறையில் என் வாழ்க்கையில் பயன்படுத்தாமல், மற்றும் என் “மறைவான குற்றங்களையும்”, “துணிகரமான பாவங்களையும்” நான் உணராமல், தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையின் ஆசீர்வாதங்களை நான் என் வாழ்வில் காண முடியாது. நான் தேவனிடம் மன்னிப்பு கேட்டு, பாவங்களில் இருந்து விலக்கிக் காக்கும்படி ஒரு பாதுகாப்பைக் கேட்டு ஜெபிக்கும்போது, தேவன் எனக்கு உதவ முடியும்.

ஜெபம்:  “என் கன்மலையும் என் மீட்பருமாகிய கர்த்தாவே, என் வாயின் வார்த்தைகளும், என் இருதயத்தின் தியானமும், உமது சமுகத்தில் பிரீதியாயிருப்பதாக.” ஆமென்.

வீட்டிற்கு வா, என் பிள்ளையே!

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  35, 36; சங்கீதம் 18; மத்தேயு 9:18-38

வேதவசனம்: ஆதியாகமம்  35: 2 அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு தன் வீட்டாரையும் தன்னோடேகூட இருந்த மற்ற அனைவரையும் நோக்கி: உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிற அந்நிய தெய்வங்களை விலக்கிப்போட்டு, உங்களைச் சுத்தம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டு, உங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களை மாற்றுங்கள். 3. நாம் எழுந்து பெத்தேலுக்குப் போவோம் வாருங்கள்; எனக்கு ஆபத்து நேரிட்ட நாளில் என் விண்ணப்பத்துக்கு உத்தரவு அருளிச்செய்து, நான் நடந்த வழியிலே என்னோடேகூட இருந்த தேவனுக்கு அங்கே ஒரு பலிபீடத்தை உண்டாக்குவேன் என்றான்.

கவனித்தல்:  லாபான் இருக்கும் இடத்திற்கு ஓடிப் போகையில், “நான் உன்னோடே இருப்பேன்” என்று யாக்கோபிடம் வாக்குப்பண்ணின அதே தேவன், பின்பு உன் தகப்பனுடைய வீட்டிற்கு "திரும்பிப் போ” என்று சொன்னார் (ஆதி.28:12-15; 31:3). யாக்கோபு தேவனை முதன் முதலில் சந்தித்த இடமான பெத்தேலுக்குப் போகும்படி, தேவன் அவனிடம் சொல்கிறார். முன்பு, யாக்கோபு அந்த இடத்தை பெத்தேல் என்று அழைத்தார். பெத்தேல் என்பதன் பொருள் என்னவெனில், யாக்கோபு சொன்னது போல, "தேவனுடைய வீடு" என்பதாகும் (ஆதி.28:17-19). முன்னர், தன் பெற்றோருக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து தன் பயணத்தைத் துவங்குகையில் அங்கே தேவனை யாக்கோபு சந்தித்தான்.இப்பொழுது தேவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து, தேவனுடனான தன் உறவை ஆரம்பித்த பெத்தேலுக்குத் திரும்ப வருகிறான். தன் வாழ்க்கையில் தேவன் எவ்வளவு உண்மையுள்ளவராக இருந்தார் என்று சாட்சி கூறுகிறான்.  இதையெல்லாம் நீக்க வேண்டும் என்று தேவன் அவனிடம் எதையும் சொல்ல வில்லை என்றாலும், தானாக முன்வந்து, தேவனுடைய வீட்டிற்கு வருவதற்கு முன் தன் குடும்பத்தை ஒரு சுத்திகரிப்புக்கு அழைக்கிறான். தேவனுக்குப் பிடிக்காத அனைத்தையும் தன் வாழ்விலிருந்தும் குடும்பத்தினரிடம் இருந்தும் நீக்கிப் போடுகிறான். அத்துடன், அவைகளை புதைத்தும் விடுகிறான்.

பயன்பாடு: என் தேவன் வாக்குத்தத்தத்தில் உண்மையுள்ளவரும், என் ஜெபங்களுக்கு எப்பொழுதும் பதில் தருகிறவருமாக இருக்கிறார். தாமதமின்றி நான் அவரிடம் வந்து சேர வேண்டும் என விரும்புகிறார். ஆயினும், நான் தேவனுடைய வீட்டிற்கு வரும் போது, என் தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமில்லாத எதையும்  என்னை விட்டு நீக்கிவிட வேண்டும். அது என்னவாக இருந்தாலும், விலையேறப்பெற்றதாக இருந்தாலும் சரி, ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாததாக இருந்தாலும் சரி, என்னைச் சுத்திகரிக்க என் வாழ்விலிருந்து அவைகளை அகற்றிப்போட நான் தயாராக இருக்க வேண்டும். நான் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக சுத்த மனச்சாட்சி உள்ளவனாக இருக்க வேண்டும். இயேசு சொன்னது போல,  “இருதயத்தில் சுத்தமுள்ளவர்கள் பாக்கியவான்கள்; அவர்கள் தேவனைத் தரிசிப்பார்கள்” (மத்தேயு 5:8).  “இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவின் இரத்தம் சகல பாவங்களையும் நீக்கி, நம்மைச் சுத்திகரிக்கும்” (1 யோவான் 1:7).

ஜெபம்: தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, வாக்குத்தத்தங்களை நிறைவேற்றுவதில் நீர் உண்மையாக இருப்பதற்கும், என் ஜெபங்களுக்கு பதில் தருவதற்காகவும் நன்றி. நான் உம் முன் வந்து நிற்கையில் ஒரு சுத்த இருதயமுள்ளவனாக இருக்க எனக்கு உதவும். சிலுவையில் நீர் எனக்காக உம்மையே பலியாக ஒப்புக்கொடுத்ததற்காக நன்றி. என் பாவங்களை மன்னித்து, என் இதயத்தைச் சுத்திகரியும். உமக்கு முன்பாக ஒரு குற்றமற்ற வாழ்க்கை வாழ எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

Come home, My Child!

READ: Genesis 35, 36; Psalm 18; Matthew 9:18-38

SCRIPTURE: Genesis 35: 2 So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes. 3 Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.” 

OBSERVATION: The same God who promised Jacob, "I am with you" when he fled to Laban (Gen.28:12-15), later told him to "go back" to his father's land (Gen.31:3). Now he asks Jacob to go to Bethel, a place where Jacob had his first encounter of God. Earlier, Jacob called that place Bethel. Bethel means, as Jacob put it, the house of God (Gen.28:17-19). Earlier he met God  in that place when he started his journey of obedience to his parents. Now in obedience to God, he comes back to Bethel, where he started his relationship with God. He testifies God's faithfulness in his life. Although God did not ask him to remove anything, he voluntarily calls his family for a cleansing, before they come to the house of God.  Jacob removed everything that God dislikes, from his life and family. And then he buried those things. 

APPLICATION: My God is faithful in his promises and always answers my prayers. He wants me to come to him without any delay. However, when I come to the house of God, I need to remove anything that is displeasing to my God. Whatever it may be, whether precious or useless, I need to have a clear conscience, and must be ready to remove them from my life in order to purify me. As Jesus says, ""Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God" (Matthew 5:8). "The blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). 

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for your faithfulness in fulfilling your promises and answering my prayers. Help me to have a pure heart when I come and stand before you. Thank you for the sacrifice your did on the cross. Forgive my sins and purify my heart. Help me to live a blameless life before you. Amen.

A Call to Follow Jesus

READ: Genesis 33, 34; Psalm 17; Matthew 9:1-17

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 9:12 On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13 But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

OBSERVATION: Today we read about Matthew's immediate obedience to Jesus' call to follow him. Without any second thought, he left his work and followed Jesus. Those days, tax-collectors had a bad reputation among the Jews. They were hated by the Jewish community for various reasons. Therefore, when the Pharisees saw Jesus with the tax-collectors, they questioned his disciples. But, Jesus calls their attention to a new dimension to look at the needy ones. And he asks his listeners to learn  the words of prophet Hosea (Hos.6:6). God desires in mercy than in our sacrifice. Here the word "mercy" implies our right conduct  with our neighbors and our faithfulness to God. Jesus' call is open to all. Those who consider themselves as righteous may not realize their need for God's mercy and salvation. But those who realize that I am a sinner will realize their spiritual need. We have the responsibility to share God's medicine for the human soul to the needy ones.

APPLICATION: When I follow Jesus, am I looking at the pros and cons of my decision, or simply following him day by day? While I accept his invitation to follow him, I need to realize that there are many people around me who need Jesus in their life. I must be willing to go to them and share God's mercy. I will not allow any popular opinions,  prejudices and biases of other people to hinder my decision to follow Jesus and to share God's love for the needy ones.

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for your love that saved me. I know that I am a sinner saved by your grace. Help me to understand the spiritual needs of others and to do my part wholeheartedly for those needs.  Amen.

இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்ற ஒரு அழைப்பு

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  33, 34; சங்கீதம் 17; மத்தேயு 9:1-17

வேதவசனம்: மத்தேயு 9:12. இயேசு அதைக் கேட்டு: பிணியாளிகளுக்கு வைத்தியன் வேண்டியதேயல்லாமல் சுகமுள்ளவர்களுக்கு வேண்டியதில்லை. 13. பலியையல்ல, இரக்கத்தையே விரும்புகிறேன் என்பதின் கருத்து இன்னதென்று போய்க் கற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள்; நீதிமான்களையல்ல, பாவிகளையே மனந்திரும்புகிறதற்கு அழைக்க வந்தேன் என்றார்.

கவனித்தல்: தன்னைப் பின்பற்ற வரும்படி இயேசு அழைத்ததும், மத்தேயு உடனே கீழ்ப்படிந்ததைப் பற்றி நாம் இன்றைய வேதவாசிப்புப் பகுதியில் காண்கிறோம். எவ்வித தயக்கமும் இன்றி, அவன் தன் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த வேலையை விட்டு விட்டு, இயேசுவைப் பின் சென்றான். அந்நாட்களில், ஆயக்காரர்கள் அல்லது வரிவசூலிப்பவர்களைப் பற்றி யூதர்கள் மிகவும் மோசமாகக் கருதினர். பல்வேறு காரணங்களுக்காக யூதர்கள் ஆயக்காரர்களை வெறுத்தனர். ஆகவே, ஆயக்காரர்களோடு ஒன்றாக அமர்ந்து இயேசு உணவருந்துவதைக் கண்ட பரிசேயர்கள், இயேசுவின் சீடர்களிடம் கேள்வி எழுப்பினர். ஆனால், இயேசுவோ ஒரு புதிய பரிமாணத்தில் தேவை உள்ளவர்களைப் பார்க்கும்படி அவர்கள் கவனத்தைத் திருப்புகிறார். ஓசியா 6:6 ல் தீர்க்கதரிசி உரைத்த வார்த்தைகளின் பொருள் என்ன என்று அறிந்து கொள்ளும்படி தன் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தவர்களிடம் இயேசு சொன்னார். நம் பலிகளை விட, நாம் அவருக்குக் கொடுக்கும் காணிக்கைகளை விட தேவன் இரக்கத்தில் பிரியமாயிருக்கிறார். இங்கே “இரக்கம்” என்ற வார்த்தையானது, நம் அயலாரிடத்தின் நாம் காண்பிக்கும் சரியான நடவடிக்கையையும், தேவனுக்கு உண்மையாக நாம் நடப்பதையும் குறிக்கிறது. இயேசுவின் அழைப்பு எல்லாருக்கும் பொதுவானது. ஆயினும், தங்களை நீதிமான் என்று கருதிக் கொள்பவர்கள், தேவனுடைய இரக்கம் மற்றும் இரட்சிப்பு தங்களுக்குத் தேவை என்பதை உணர்ந்து கொள்ளாமல் போகக் கூடும். ஆனால், நான் ஒரு பாவி என்று உணர்ந்து கொள்பவர்கள் தங்களின் ஆன்மீகத் தேவையை உணர்ந்து கொள்வார்கள். தேவையுள்ளவர்களின் ஆன்மீகத் தேவைக்கான தேவனுடைய மருந்தை அவர்களிடம் பகிர்ந்து கொள்ளுவது நம் பொறுப்பு ஆகும்.

பயன்பாடு: நான் இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றும்போது, என்னுடைய முடிவின் நன்மை, தீமைகள் அல்லது சாதக, பாதகங்கள் என்ன என்று பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறேனா, அல்லது அனுதினமும் இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றுவதில் கவனமாயிருக்கின்றேனா? இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்ற அவர் விடுக்கும் அழைப்பை ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிற நான், தங்கள் வாழ்வில் இயேசுவைப் பெற வேண்டிய தேவையில் இருக்கிறவர்கள் அனேகர் என்னைச் சுற்றிலும் உண்டு என்பதை நான் உணர்ந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். அவர்களிடம் சென்று, தேவனுடைய இரக்கத்தை, இரட்சிப்பைப் பற்றி பகிர்ந்து கொள்ள நான் ஆயத்தமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். பொதுவான பிரபல கருத்துக்கள், மக்களின் பாரபட்சமான மற்றும் தவறான கருத்துக்களுக்கு இடம் கொடாமல்,  நான் இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றி, தேவை உள்ளவர்களுக்கு தேவனுடைய அன்பைப் பகிர்ந்து கொள்வேன். 

ஜெபம்: தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, என்னை இரட்சித்த உம் அன்பிற்காக நன்றி. நான் உம் கிருபையினால் இரட்சிப்பைக் கண்டடைந்த பாவி என்பதை அறிவேன். மற்றவர்களின் ஆன்மீகத் தேவைகளைப் புரிந்து கொள்ளவும், அதற்கான என் பங்கை முழு மனதுடன் செய்யவும் எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

தேவனே, என்னைக் காப்பாற்றும்

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம்  31, 32; சங்கீதம் 16; மத்தேயு 8:18-34

வேதவசனம்: மத்தேயு 8:24  அப்பொழுது படவு அலைகளினால் மூடப்படத்தக்கதாய்க் கடலில் பெருங்காற்று உண்டாயிற்று; அவரோ (இயேசு) நித்திரையாயிருந்தார்.

கவனித்தல்: இந்த வசனத்தை வாசிக்கும்போது, புயலின் நடுவில் ஒரு மனிதன் எப்படி நிம்மதியாகத் தூங்க முடியும் என்று நான் ஆச்சரியப்படுவதுண்டு.  இயேசுவும் அவருடைய சீடர்களும் ஒரு படகில் இருந்தார்கள், நன்றாக தூங்க வசதியான ஒரு இடத்தில் அவர்கள் இருக்கவில்லை. அலைகளினால் தடுமாறும் ஒரு படகில், நேராக நிற்பதே கடினமாக ஒரு  காரியம். ஆனால்  “அவரோ நித்திரையாயிருந்தார்.” தண்ணீரில் மூழ்கிவிடுவோம் என்று அவருடைய சீடர்கள் மிகவும் பயத்தில் இருந்தனர். ஆகவே, அவர்கள் இயேசுவின் உதவியை நாடினர். இயேசு அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்ன பதிலை நான் பின்வருமாறு பார்க்கிறேன். நான் படகில் இருக்கும்போது “ஏன் பயப்படுகிறீர்கள்” என்று இயேசு தம் சீடர்களிடம் சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். இயேசுவின் கட்டளைக்கு காற்றும் கடலும் கீழ்ப்படிந்ததைக் கண்டு அவர்கள் மிகவும் “ஆச்சரியப்பட்டனர்.” அற்புதங்களை நம்புவது சிலருக்குக் கடினமானதாக இருக்கிறது. ஆயினும், இந்த வேத பகுதி சொல்வது போல, காற்று மற்றும் கடலின் மீதும் கூட இயேசு அதிகாரமுடையவர். தேவனுடைய எல்லா படைப்புகளின் மீதும் அதிகாரமுள்ள ஆண்டவராக இயேசு இருக்கிறார். நம் வாழ்க்கையில் நாம் சில சமயங்களில் எதிர்பாராத அல்லது திடீரென நடக்கிற சம்பவங்களைக் காணக்கூடும்.  இயேசு நம்முடன் இருக்கும் வரைக்கும், நாம் எதைப் பற்றியும் பயப்படத் தேவை இல்லை.

பயன்பாடு: எதிர்பாராத ஒரு புயலை என் வாழ்வில் நான் சந்திக்க நேரிடும்போது, நான் என்ன செய்கிறேன்? என் வாழ்க்கை மற்றும் என் எதிர்காலம் குறித்து நான் கவலைப்பட்ட தருணங்கள் உண்டு. நிம்மதி இன்றி, புயலில் இருந்து என் வாழ்க்கையைக் காத்துக் கொள்ள நான் பல காரியங்களைச் செய்ய முயற்சி செய்திருக்கிறேன். என் சூழ்நிலையை என்னால் கட்டுப்படுத்த இயலாது என்று உணர்ந்து, தேவனே என்னைக் காப்பாற்றும் என்று நான் இயேசுவின் கேட்க்கும் அந்த நொடிப் பொழுதிலே, என் இருதயத்தில் தேவ சமாதானத்தை நான் பெற்று அனுபவிக்க முடியும்.  அவர் என்னுடன் எப்பொழுதும் இருக்கிறார். அவரே என் ஆண்டவர்! 

ஜெபம்: தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, நீர் என்னுடனே இருக்கிறீர் என்பதையும், எல்லாம் உம் ஆளுகைக் கட்டுப்பாட்டின் கீழ் இருக்கிறது என்பதையும் நினைவுபடுத்தும் உம் நல்ல வார்த்தைக்காக நன்றி. நீரே என் வாழ்க்கையின் நாயகர். உம் சமாதானத்தை  மனதில் உணர்ந்து அனுபவிக்கவும், உம் நாமத்தை உயர்த்தி நான் இன்று வாழவும் எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

Keep me safe, my God!

  READ: Genesis 31, 32; Psalm 16; Matthew 8:18-34

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 8:  24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 

OBSERVATION: As I read this verse, I wonder how come a person could sleep in the midst of a storm. Jesus and his disciples were on a boat, not in a comfortable place where they could sleep well. When a boat is tossed up by the waves, it would be difficult even to stand straight. "But Jesus was sleeping." His disciples were so afraid that they would drown in the water. So they sought the help of Jesus. I see Jesus response in this way. Jesus was saying to his disciples that when I am on the boat "why are you so afraid?" They "were amazed" when the waves and the winds obeyed Jesus' rebuke. For some people, it is very difficult to accept miracles. However, as this bible passage says, Jesus has control over "even the winds and the waves." Jesus is the LORD over all of God's creation and creatures. At times we may face sudden or unexpected events in our life. As long as Jesus is with us, we need not to fear for anything.

APPLICATION: When I face an unexpected storm in my life, what I do? There are times, I worried about my life and future. Restlessly, I tried different things to save myself from the storm. The moment I realize my inability to control my situation and ask Jesus to save me, I can experience the peace of God in my heart. Jesus is with me always. He is the LORD.

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for this wonderful reminder that you are with me and all things are under your control. You are the Lord of my life. Help me today to experience your peace and to exalt your name. Amen.

எஜமானரின் தொடுதல்

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம் 29, 30; சங்கீதம் 15; மத்தேயு 8:1-17.

வேதவசனம்: மத்தேயு 8: 1. அவர் மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினபோது, திரளான ஜனங்கள் அவருக்குப் பின்சென்றார்கள். 2. அப்பொழுது குஷ்டரோகி ஒருவன் வந்து அவரைப் பணிந்து: ஆண்டவரே! உமக்குச் சித்தமானால், என்னைச் சுத்தமாக்க உம்மால் ஆகும் என்றான். 3. இயேசு தமது கையை நீட்டி அவனைத் தொட்டு: எனக்குச் சித்தமுண்டு, சுத்தமாகு என்றார். உடனே குஷ்டரோகம் நீங்கி அவன் சுத்தமானான்.

கவனித்தல்: தொழுநோய் அல்லது குஷ்டரோகம் போன்ற தோல்வியாதிகள் குறித்து இயேசு வாழ்ந்த காலத்தில் ஜனங்கள் மிகவும் பயந்தனர். லேவியராகமம் 13:45-46 ன் படி, குஷ்டரோகம் உள்ள மனிதன் “தீட்டுள்ளவன்” அசுத்தமானவன். அவன் தன் குடும்பத்தினருடன் வசிக்க முடியாது.. மாறாக, ஜனங்களை விட்டு புறம்பே, தனிமைப்படுத்தப்பட்டு வசிக்க வேண்டும். தங்கள் சொந்த குடும்பத்தினரைக் கூடச் சந்திக்கவோ பார்க்கவோ அவர்களுக்கு அனுமதி கிடையாது. ஆகவே, குஷ்டரோகத்தால், தோல் வியாதிகளால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு தனிமைப்படுத்தப்பட்டவர்களின் வாழ்க்கை மிகவும் மோசமானதாகவும், சுகாதாரமற்றதாகவும் இருந்தது. ஒரு குஷ்டரோகியைத் தொடுபவரும் ”தீட்டுபட்டவன்” என்று கருதப்பட்டார். ஆகவே, இந்த குஷ்டரோகி இயேசுவிடம் வந்து சுகமடையக் கேட்டது அவனைச் சுற்றி இருந்த மனிதர்களுக்கு அசாதாரணமானதாக இருந்திருக்கும். “சுத்தமாகு” என்று தன் வார்த்தைகளாலேயே இயேசு அவனைச் சுகப்படுத்தி இருக்க முடியும். ஆனால்,  “இயேசு தமது கையை நீட்டி அவனைத் தொட்டு” சுகமாக்கினார் என வாசிக்கிறோம்.  இங்கே சுகமாகுதல் உடனே நடந்தது ஆச்சரியமானதல்ல, ஆனால் எஜமானரின் தொடுதல் மிகவும் ஆச்சரியமானது. குஷ்டரோகம் ஒரு மனிதனை அவனு(ளு)டைய சமுதாயத்திலிருந்து பிரித்தது போல, பாவமானது மனிதனை தேவனிடம் இருந்து பிரித்து அவனை தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக அசுத்தமானவாக மாற்றியது என ஸ்பர்ஜன் கூறுகிறார்.  தன் தொடுதலையும் , பரிசுத்தமடைய விரும்பும் எவரையும் இயேசு தொட விருப்பம் உள்ளவராக இருக்கிறார். நாம் தயாராக இருக்கிறோமா?

பயன்பாடு: மனிதர்கள் என்னை வெறுத்து  ஒதுக்கி, என் அருகில் வருவதை தவிர்க்கலாம். ஆனால், இயேசு ஒருபோதும் அதைச் செய்வதில்லை. பாவமானது என்னை தேவனிடம் இருந்து பிரிக்கிறது என்றும், இயேசு மட்டுமே என்னைக் கழுவிச் சுத்திகரிக்க முடியும் என்பதை நான் உணரவேண்டும். இருளிலும், தனிமையிலும் என்னை நான் மறைத்து ஒளிந்து கொள்வதற்குப் பதிலாக, நான் இயேசுவிடம் வரத் தயாராக இருக்க வேண்டும். ஏனெனில், அவர் என்னை, என் வாழ்க்கையைச் சுத்தமாக்க விருப்பமுள்ளவராக இருக்கிறார். நான் இயேசுவிடம் வந்து, என்னைச் சுத்தமாக்கும் என்று கேட்கும்போது, எஜமானரின் தொடுதலை நான் பெற்று அனுபவிக்க முடியும்.  “இயேசுகிறிஸ்து நேற்றும் இன்றும் என்றும் மாறாதவராயிருக்கிறார்”, “அவர் தாமே நம்முடைய பெலவீனங்களை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு, நம்முடைய நோய்களைச் சுமந்தார்” என்று வேதம் சொல்லும் உண்மையைப் பற்றி நான் நிச்சயமுள்ளவனாக இருக்கவேண்டும்.

ஜெபம்: இயேசுவே, என்னைக் குணமாக்க, நீர் விருப்பம் உள்ளவராக இருப்பதற்காக நன்றி. நீர் என் பாவங்களை நோய்களை சிலுவையில் சுமந்து தீர்த்ததற்காகவும், உம் அன்புக்காகவும் நன்றி. இன்று உம் அன்பின் தொடுதலை நான் பெற்று அனுபவிக்க எனக்கு உதவும். ஆமென்.

One touch of the master

 READ: Genesis 29, 30; Psalm 15; Matthew 8:1-17

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 8: 1 When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. 2 A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” 3 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man.  “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. 

OBSERVATION: Ancient people were so afraid of skin diseases such as leprosy. According to Leviticus 13: 45-46, a person with leprosy is "unclean." S/he cannot live with a community, "must live alone." They were not allowed to come and meet even their family members. So their life was in such a miserable and unhygienic condition. Even a person who touched a leper also considered as "unclean." Therefore, this leper's move and his request for healing must have been unusual for the people around him. Jesus could have made him clean just by saying "Be clean." But, he "reached out his hand and touched the man." It is not surprising that the healing took place immediately, but the touch of the Master. As Spurgeon observes, like the leprosy separated a person from his/her community, sin separated us from God and made us unclean. Jesus is willing to touch any person who wants to "be clean." Are we? 

APPLICATION: People may ostracize me, and hate to come near  me, but Jesus never does it.  I must realize that sin separates me from God, and Jesus alone can purify me. Instead of hiding myself in darkness and isolation, I should be ready to come to Jesus. For he is willing to clean my life and to make me whole. I can experience the touch of the Master when I come to Jesus and ask him to make me clean. I can be confident in the truth that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever", and " “He took up our  infirmities and bore our diseases.”

PRAYER: Jesus, thank you that you are willing to heal me. Thank you for the cross, thank you for your love.  Help me today  to experience your touch of love in my life. Amen.

ஆசீர்வாத ஏணியின் முதல் படி

வேதவசனம்: ஆதியாகமம் 27: 20. அப்பொழுது ஈசாக்குத் தன் குமாரனை நோக்கி: என் மகனே, இது உனக்கு இத்தனை சீக்கிரமாய் எப்படி அகப்பட்டது என்றான். அவன்: உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எனக்கு நேரிடப்பண்ணினார் என்றான்.

கவனித்தல்: தன் இளைய மகன் மீதான தேவனுடைய திட்டத்தையும் தயையையும் ரெபெக்காள் அறிந்திருந்தாள் (ஆதி 25:23). ஈசாக்குக்கும் அதை அறிந்திருக்கக் கூடும். ஆயினும், தான் விரும்பின சுவையான உணவைச் சாப்பிட்டு தன் மூத்த மகனான ஏசாவை ஆசீர்வதிக்க ஈசாக்கு விரும்பினான். மறுபக்கத்திலோ, அதே ஆசீர்வாதத்தை தன் தகப்பனை ஏமாற்றி தந்திரமாகப் பெற யாக்கோபை ரெபெக்காள் ஆயத்தப்படுத்துகிறாள். முன்னதாக, ஏசா சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தைக் குறித்து அலட்சியமாக இருந்ததையும், அப்பத்தையும் கூழையும் கொடுத்து யாக்கோபு எப்படி தந்திரமாக ஏசாவிடம் இருந்து சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தைப் பெற்றான் என்பதையும் வாசித்தோம் (25:29-34). முழு குடும்பத்தின் பலவீனத்தையும் நாம் இங்கு காண்கிறோம். ஈசாக்கை ஏமாற்ற மிகவும் குறுகிய காலத்தில் ரெபெக்காளும் யாக்கோபும் ஒரு வழியைக் கண்டுபிடித்தனர்.அவர்கள் தங்கள் திட்டத்தில் வெற்றி பெற்றாலும், அதன் விளைவாக கசப்பு, பயங்கள், கண்ணீர்கள் மற்றும் துக்கம் என எதிர்மறை விளைவுகளே உண்டாயிற்று. யாக்கோபின் வார்த்தைகளை இங்கே கவனியுங்கள். யாக்கோபுக்கும் தேவனுக்குமிடையே தனிப்பட்ட எந்த தொடர்பும் இல்லை. ஆகவே அவன், “உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்”  என்று சொல்கிறான். ஈசாக்கை ஏமாற்ற ”நான் சொல்வதைக் கேள்” என்று சொன்ன ரெபெக்காள், பின்னர் அதே வார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லி தேவனுடைய உண்மையான ஆசீர்வாதத்திற்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்துவதை நாம் காண்கிறோம் (27:8, 13, 43).  “யாக்கோபு  (முதன்முறையாக?) தன் தகப்பனுக்கும் தன் தாய்க்கும் கீழ்ப்படிந்து”, அவர்கள் சொன்னபடி தன் பயணத்தை ஆரம்பித்தான் என்பது இங்கே கவனிக்கப்பட வேண்டிய ஒரு விஷயம். ஏசாவும் இந்தக் கீழ்ப்படிதலைக் கண்டான். எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மேலாக, இந்தக் கீழ்ப்படிதலின் பயணத்தில்தான் தேவன் யாக்கோபைச் சந்தித்து தன் வார்த்தைகளையும் வாக்குத்தத்தங்களையும் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறார். அந்த இடத்தில் இருந்துதான் தேவனுக்கும் யாக்கோபுக்குமான தனிப்பட்ட உறவு துவங்குகிறது (27:12-22).

பயன்பாடு: நான் பொறுமையின்றி, என் சொந்த வழியில் தேவனுடைய ஆசீர்வாதங்களைப் பெறுவதற்காக எத்தனை முறை முயற்சி செய்திருக்கிறேன்? தேவனுடைய ஆசீர்வாதம் மற்றும் திட்டம் பற்றி நான் உறுதியாக இருந்தாலும், தேவனுடைய நேரம், மற்றும் அவர் எனக்காக வைத்திருக்கும் வழி ஆகியவற்றைக் காணத் தவறிய நேரங்கள் என் வாழ்வில் உண்டு. தேவனுக்காகவும், அவர் செயல்படும் நேரத்திற்காகவும் காத்திருப்பதற்குப் பதிலாக, ஒரு நல்ல காரியத்திற்காகத்தானே என்று நினைத்து நான் தந்திரமான வழிகளை பயன்படுத்தக் கூடும். வேதாகமம் சொல்வது போல, தேவன் பொய் சொல்வதில்லை (1 சாமு.15:29). அவருடைய வாக்குத்தத்தங்களும் ஆசீர்வாதமும் உண்மையானவையும் உறுதியானவையும் என்றாலும், நான் என் வாழ்வில் தேவனுடன் நடக்கும் கீழ்ப்படிதலின் பயணத்தில்தான்  அவைகளைப் பெற முடியும். தேவனுடைய வாக்குத்தத்தங்களைச் சுதந்தரிக்க குறுக்கு வழி எதுவும் இல்லை.

ஜெபம்: தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, உம் வார்த்தைகளுக்காக, உம் ஆசீர்வாதங்களுக்காக் நன்றி. என் வாழ்வில் ஏதேனும் குறுக்கு வழிகளை, தந்திரமான வழிகளை நான் பயன்படுத்தி இருந்தால், என்னை மன்னியும். அன்பிலும், கீழ்ப்படிதலிலும் நான் உம்முடன் நடக்க எனக்கு உதவும்.  ஆமென்.

The first step on the stairway of blessing

 READ: Genesis 27, 28; Psalm 14; Matthew 7:15-29

SCRIPTURE: 27:20 Isaac asked his son, “How did you find it so quickly, my son?” “The Lord your God gave me success,” he replied.

OBSERVATION:  Rebekah knew about God's favor and plan for the younger son (Gen.25:23), possibly Isaac also aware of it. However, Isaac wants to share his final blessing to his elder son and asks Esau to bring the food he desires. On the other hand, Rebekah prepares Jacob to deceive his father so that he can get the same blessing. Earlier,  Jacob deceitfully won the birthright from Esau by sharing some bread and stew, for Esau was careless about his birthright (25:29-34). We see the weakness of the entire family. Rebekah and Jacob were quick to find a way to deceive Isaac. Although they succeeded in their plan, it produced bitterness, fears, tears and sorrows. Notice Jacob's word, there is no personal connection between God and Jacob. So he says "The Lord your God." Later, the same Rebekah who told Jacob, "do what I say" to deceive Isaac, prepares him for the real blessing of the Lord by saying the same words (27:8, 13, 43). Interestingly, Jacob obeyed his father and mother (first time?) and set out his journey as they both instructed him. Esau also saw this obedience. More than that, God encountered Jacob during this journey of obedience and shared his words of promises. That is where Jacob's relationship with God started to become a personal one (28:12-22).

APPLICATION: How many times I impatiently tried to get God's blessing in my own way! Although I am sure of God's blessings and plan, there are times I failed to see God's timing and his way for my life. Instead of obeying and waiting for God and his time, I may use deceitful ways  by thinking that it is for a good cause. As the Bible says, God never lies (1 Sam.15:29). Although his promises and blessing are real and sure, I can receive them only by the journey of obedience and by walking with him all through my life. There is no shortcut to get God's blessings.

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for your words and your blessings. Forgive me, if I used any cunning ways in my life. Help me to walk with you in obedience and love. Amen.

எதுவரைக்கும் கர்த்தாவே?

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம் 25, 26; சங்கீதம் 13; மத்தேயு 7:1-14

வேதவசனம்: சங்கீதம் 13:1. கர்த்தாவே, எதுவரைக்கும் என்னை மறந்திருப்பீர், எதுவரைக்கும் உம்முடைய முகத்தை எனக்கு மறைப்பீர்? 2. என் இருதயத்திலே சஞ்சலத்தை நித்தம் நித்தம் வைத்து, எதுவரைக்கும் என் ஆத்துமாவிலே ஆலோசனைபண்ணிக்கொண்டிருப்பேன்?

கவனித்தல்: நீண்டகாலம் காத்திருப்பதைப் பற்றிய தன் கவலையையும், கடினமான அந்த நேரத்தில் தேவனைப் பார்க்க முடியாமல் இருப்பதைப் பற்றிய தன் விரக்தியையும் தாவீது வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார். இதன் நிமித்தமாக, அவருடைய இருதயத்தில் கவலையை உண்டாக்குகிற மனப்போராட்டத்தில் தவிக்கிறார். நாம் எதிர்பார்த்ததை விட மிக அதிகமான காலம் ஏதாவதொரு காரியத்திறாக காத்திருக்கும்போது, அந்த காத்திருக்குதல் நம் இருதயத்தை இளைக்கப் பண்ணும். காத்திருக்கும் நேரத்தில், நாம் தொடர்ந்து நம் பிரச்சனைகளையே பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தால், அவைகளில் இருந்து விடுபட்டு வெளிவரும் வழி தெரியாமல் திகைக்கக் கூடும். தேவன் நம்மை கைவிட்டுவிட்டார் என்று நாம் நினைக்கலாம். ஆயினும், அப்படிப்பட்ட ஒரு சூழ்நிலை ஒரு முற்றுப் புள்ளி அல்ல. மாறாக, தேவன் கடந்தகாலத்தில் செய்த நன்மைகளை நினைத்து, அவரைப் பற்றிய ஒரு புதிய பார்வையைப் பெறுவதற்கான ஆரம்பப்புள்ளியாக அது மாறக் கூடும். தாவீதும் அதையே இங்கு செய்கிறார். நமக்குத் தெரியாத பலவிதமான பிரச்சனைகளின் நடுவில் இருந்த தாவீது, தேவன் மேல் உள்ள தன் நம்பிக்கையை வெளிப்படுத்துகிறார் (சங்கீதம் 13:5). நாம் தேவனை நம்பத் துவங்கும்போது, நம் கவலைகளில் இருந்து விடுபட்டு, மகிழ்ச்சியை அனுபவிக்கவும், அவரைத் துதிக்கும் பாடல்களைப் பாடவும் ஆரம்பிக்கிறோம். 

பயன்பாடு: குறிப்பிட்ட சில காரியங்களுக்காக நான் காத்திருக்கும் நேரங்களில், நானும் மனம் சோர்வடைந்து விடுகிறேன். ஆயினும், ஒரு மனப் போராட்டத்தை என் இருதயத்திற்குள் அனுமதிப்பதற்குப் பதிலாக, கடந்த காலத்தில் தேவன் எவ்வாறெல்லாம் எனக்கு உதவி, காப்பாற்றி இருக்கிறார் என்பதை நான் நினைத்துப் பார்க்க வேண்டும். அவர் எனக்குச் செய்த நன்மைகளை, நிறைவேற்றிய வாக்குத்தத்தங்களை நினைத்துப் பார்க்கும்போது, என் இருதயமானது தேவன் மேல் நம்பிக்கை வைக்கும்படி என் கவனம் அவரை நோக்கி திரும்புகிறது. அதன் பின், நான் மிகுந்த நம்பிக்கையுடன் அப்படிப்பட்ட கடினமான நேரங்களை,  “தேவனுக்காக காத்திருக்கும்” நேரமாக நம்பிக்கையுடன் பயன்படுத்த முடியும். நான் தேவனுக்காக காத்திருக்கும்போது, ஒரு புதிய பலத்தைப் பெறுகிறேன். நான் சோர்ந்து போவதில்லை. ஆகவே, நான் தேவனை எல்லாவற்றிற்காகவும் துதிக்கிறேன். ஏனெனில், அவரே எனக்கு எல்லாமுமாக இருக்கிறார்.

ஜெபம்: தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, என் மீதான உம் கிருபையின் அன்பிற்காக நன்றி. நீரே என் புகலிடமும் தஞ்சமுமானவர். நான் உம்மை எக்காலத்திலும் நம்புவேன். நீர் என்னை ஒருபோதும் கைவிடுவதில்லை. உம்மைப் துதிக்கும் பாடலை நான் எப்போதும் பாடச் செய்யும். ஆமென்.

How long, O Lord?

 READ: Genesis 25, 26; Psalm 13; Matthew 7:1-14

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 13:1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart?

OBSERVATION: David expresses his anguish over waiting for a long period and his despair of not seeing God in his tough time. Because of this, he goes through an inner battle that causes sorrow in his heart. As we wait to receive something for a period more than we expected, it could make our heart sick. We may feel that God neglected us. As we wait, if we constantly look at our problems, we may not be able to see the way to come out of it. However, that is not the end point. That could be a starting point to have a fresh look on God, remembering his acts of faithfulness in the past. That is what exactly David does here. Although he goes through various issues unknown to us, he expresses his confidence in God (13:5). When we begin to trust God, we are relieved from our worries and begin to experience joy and to sing songs.

APPLICATION: I too tend to become weary when I wait for certain things. However, instead of allowing my heart to have an inner battle, I need to remember how God helped and rescued me in the past. As I remember his acts of faithfulness, fulfillment of his promises, my attention would turn toward God to trust him. Then confidently I can use such tough times to "wait on God." When I wait on God, I get a renewed strength and I will not become weary. So, I praise God for everything, for HE is my everything!

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for your unfailing love for me. I will trust in you, for you are my hiding place. You never fails me. So I will sing a song of praise. Amen.

கவலைக்கு சிறந்த மருந்து

 வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம் 23, 24; சங்கீதம் 12; மத்தேயு 6: 19-34

வேதவசனம்: மத்தேயு 6: 25. ஆகாரத்தைப் பார்க்கிலும் ஜீவனும், உடையைப்பார்க்கிலும் சரீரமும் விசேஷித்தவைகள் அல்லவா?...31. ஆகையால், என்னத்தை உண்போம், என்னத்தைக் குடிப்போம், என்னத்தை உடுப்போம் என்று கவலைப்படாதிருங்கள்.32. இவைகளையெல்லாம் அஞ்ஞானிகள் நாடித்தேடுகிறார்கள்; இவைகளெல்லாம் உங்களுக்கு வேண்டியவைகள் என்று உங்கள் பரமபிதா அறிந்திருக்கிறார். 33. முதலாவது தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தையும் அவருடைய நீதியையும் தேடுங்கள்; அப்பொழுது இவைகளெல்லாம் உங்களுக்குக் கூடக் கொடுக்கப்படும்.

கவனித்தல்: பொதுவாக, கவலையில்லாத வீட்டையும், கவலையில்லாத மனிதனையும் காண்பதரிது. கவலை என்பது அனேகருக்கு தூக்கமில்லாத இரவுகளைக் கொடுக்கிற உலகளாவிய ஒரு வியாதி. மத்தேயு 6 ஆம் அதிகாரத்தில், மனிதனுக்கு கவலையை உண்டாக்குகிற முக்கியமான சில காரணங்களைப் பற்றி இயேசு பேசுகிறார். எல்லா தேவைகளையும் தேவன் சந்திக்கிற கவலையில்லாத ஒரு வாழ்க்கைக்கு தன் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்போரை இயேசு அழைக்கிறார். நம் தேவைகள் பெரிதோ அல்லது சிறிதோ, தேவன் அவைகளை அறிவார். அது மாத்திரமல்ல, நம் தேவைகளுக்குத் தேவையானதைச் செய்யும் வழியையும் அவர் அறிந்திருக்கிறார். மனிதன் அறியாத வழிகளில்  தேவன் தரும் பாதுகாப்பையும், தேவைகளுக்குத் தேவையானதைத் தருவதையும், அவரை நம்புபவர்கள் தங்கள் வாழ்வில் காண்கிறார்கள். ஈசாக்குக்கு தான் விரும்பியபடி ஒரு மனைவியைப் பெற தேவன் ஆபிரகாமுக்கு உதவியதையும், அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரனுடைய வேண்டுதலுக்கு தேவன் பதிலளித்ததையும் பாருங்கள் (ஆதி.24). நம் தேவைகளைக் குறித்துக் கவலைப்படுவதற்குப் பதிலாக, நாம்  “ முதலாவது தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தையும் அவருடைய நீதியையும்” தேட வேண்டும் என இயேசு அழைக்கிறார். நாம் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையை நம்பி விசுவாசிக்கலாம். ஏனெனில், அவை  “புடமிடப்பட்ட” பரிசுத்த, மற்றும் பரிபூரண சொற்கள்(சங்.12). 

பயன்பாடு: ஒரு பறவையையோ அல்லது காட்டுப் பூவையோ பார்க்கும்போது, தேவன் எவ்வாறு அவைகளைப் பராமரித்து, போஷிக்கிறார் என்று இயேசு சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளை நான் நினைவுகொள்ள வேண்டும். தேவனுடைய படைப்பையும், இயற்கை காட்சிகளையும் காணும்போது, அவன் என் மனதுக்கு இதமானவைகளாக மட்டுமல்ல, தேவனுடைய பார்வையில் நான் அவைகளை விட எவ்வளவு அதிக விசேஷமானவன் என்பதையும் எனக்கு நினைவுபடுத்துகின்றன. தேவன் என் ஒவ்வொரு தேவையையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறார். ஆகவே நான் எதைக்குறித்தும் பயப்படவோ, கவலைப்படவோ மாட்டேன். தேவன் என் தேவைகளைச் சந்திக்கிற இந்த கவலையில்லாத வாழ்க்கையை வாழ, நான் எல்லாவற்றிலும்  “ முதலாவது தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தையும் அவருடைய நீதியையும்” தேடுவேன்.

ஜெபம்: பிதாவே, இன்று நீர் தந்த நல்ல வார்த்தைக்காக நன்றி. என் தேவைகளை நீர் அறிந்திருக்கிறீர். நான் உம் வார்த்தையை நம்பி, அதைப் பின்பற்றும்போது, உம் பாதுகாப்பையும் போஷிப்பையும் என் வாழ்க்கையில் காண முடியும். முக்கியமானவைகளுக்கு முதலிடம் கொடுத்து நான் வாழ எனக்குதவும். உம் இராஜ்ஜியத்தின் குடிமகனாகவும், உம் நீதியை கடைபிடிக்கிறவனாகவும் வாழ எனக்கு உம் பெலத்தைத் தாரும். ஆமென்.

The best medicine for anxiety

 READ: Genesis 23, 24; Psalm 12; Matthew 6:19-34

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 6:25.Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?... 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 

OBSERVATION: Generally, there is no house without a door, no human without worries. Worry is a global disease that causes sleepless nights to many. Here in Matthew 6, Jesus says of some of the main reasons for human anxiety and worry. He invites his listeners for a worriless life in which God takes care of every need. God knows our every need, whether great or small. Not only that, he knows how to meet our needs as well. Those who trust God can see God's provision and protection in unusual ways unknown to humanity. See how God helped Abraham and answered his servant's prayer to find a wife for Isaac (Genesis 24). Instead of worrying about our needs, Jesus calls us to "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness." We can trust and believe the word of God, for they are "flawless" and they are perfect that stand against any tests (Psalm 12).

APPLICATION: When I see a bird or a flower, I can remember Jesus' words that how God takes care of them and dresses them. When I see nature and God's creation, they are pleasant for my eyes to watch and they remind me how much more worth I am than these wonderful things. God knows my every need. So I will not fear and worry about anything. In order to live this worry-free life where God meets my every need, I will "seek first his kingdom and righteousness."

PRAYER: Father, thank you for your word today. You know my needs. I can experience your providence and protection when I trust and follow your word. Help me "to keep the main thing the main thing." Give me your strength to live as a citizen of your kingdom and to practice your righteousness. Amen.

தேவனுடைய ராஜ்ஜியத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களின் ஆன்மீக ஒழுங்கு

வாசிக்க: ஆதியாகமம் 21, 22; சங்கீதம் 11; மத்தேயு 6:1-18

வேதவசனம்: மத்தேயு 6:1 மனுஷர் காணவேண்டுமென்று அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக உங்கள் தர்மத்தைச் செய்யாதபடிக்கு எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்; செய்தால், பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற உங்கள் பிதாவினிடத்தில் உங்களுக்குப் பலனில்லை.

கவனித்தல்: ஒருவருடைய ஆன்மீக வாழ்க்கையுடன் தொடர்புடைய தானதர்மங்கள் செய்தல், ஜெபித்தல், மற்றும் உபவாசித்தல் ஆகிய மூன்று பொதுவான மற்றும் முக்கியமான காரியங்கள் மீது இயேசு நம் கவனத்தை திருப்புகிறார்.  மிகப் பழைமையான வேதாகமக் கைப்பிரதிகளில் “தான தருமங்கள்” என்கிற வார்த்தைக்குப் பதிலாக,  “righteousness"  நீதி என்பதைக் குறிக்கும் வார்த்தை பயன்படுத்தப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. மாய்மாலக்காரர்கள் செய்வது போல இங்கே குறிப்பிடப்பட்டிருக்கிற “நீதியின் செயல்களைச்” செய்யக் கூடாது என அவர் தெளிவாக எச்சரிக்கிறார். சுய மகிமைக்காக மற்றவர்களுக்கு முன் பெருமை பாராட்டுவதற்குப் பதிலாக, நாம் தான தர்மங்களைச் செய்யும்போதும், ஜெபிக்கும்போதும், உபவாசிக்கும்போதும் பரலோகத்திலிருந்து வரும் பலனைத் தேடவேண்டும் என இயேசு விரும்புகிறார். “நீங்கள் செய்தால்” என்று கூறுவதற்குப் பதிலாக, “நீங்கள் செய்யும்போது” என்று இயேசு சொல்வதன் மூலம், இயேசுவைப் பின்பற்றுபவர்கள் தங்கள் தனிப்பட்ட வாழ்க்கையிலும், பொது வாழ்க்கையிலும் இம்மூன்று காரியங்களையும் செய்வார்கள் என அவர் கருதுகிறார் (வசனம்.3,5-7,16). ஆகவே, அவர் அதை எவ்வாறு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பதற்காக வழிகாட்டுதலை நமக்குத் தருகிறார்.

பயன்பாடு: நான் என்னைப் பார்க்கிற மனிதர்களின் கவனத்தை, அவர்களிடம் நல்ல பெயரை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என முயற்சிக்கிறேனா? அல்லது தேவனுக்காக வாழ்ந்து அவர் விரும்புகிற படி நான் எல்லாவற்றையும் செய்கிறேனா? நான் வாழும் வாழ்க்கை தேவனை மகிமைப் படுத்தி வாழ எனக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட ஒரு வாய்ப்பு ஆகும். எந்த விதமான மாய்மாலம் அல்லது பாசாங்குத் தனத்தை இயேசு கடுமையாக எதிர்க்கும்போது, இயேசு இங்கே குறிப்பிடுகிற “நீதியின் செயல்களைச்” செய்கையில் நான் தெளிந்த புத்தியுள்ளவனாக இருக்க வேண்டும். “நீங்கள் செய்ய வேண்டிய விதம்” என இயேசு எனக்குக் காட்டுகிறார், ஆகவே அவருடைய வழிகாட்டுதலின் படி தவறாமல் நான் எல்லாவற்றையும் செய்வேன்.
