வேத வசனம்: 1 கொரிந்தியர் 6: 19. உங்கள் சரீரமானது நீங்கள் தேவனாலே பெற்றும் உங்களில் தங்கியும் இருக்கிற பரிசுத்த ஆவியினுடைய ஆலயமாயிருக்கிறதென்றும், நீங்கள் உங்களுடையவர்களல்லவென்றும் அறியீர்களா?
20. கிரயத்துக்குக் கொள்ளப்பட்டீர்களே; ஆகையால் தேவனுக்கு உடையவைகளாகிய உங்கள் சரீரத்தினாலும் உங்கள் ஆவியினாலும் தேவனை மகிமைப்படுத்துங்கள்.

கவனித்தல்: “கோயில் இல்லாத ஊரில் குடியிருக்காதே” என்பது ஒரு இந்தியப் பழமொழி. முன்னாட்களில், கலாச்சாரப் நடைமுறைகள் மற்றும் சமுதாய வாழ்வில் கோவில்கள் முக்கிய பங்கை வகித்தன. கொரிந்துப் பட்டணம் ஒரு முக்கியமான வியாபார மையமாகவும், அதில் இருந்த கோவில்களுக்காக, குறிப்பாக, அப்ரோதீத்துவின் கோவிலுக்காக நன்கறியப்பட்ட ஒரு இடமாக இருந்தது.  காதல், காமம், மற்றும் இனப்பெருக்கத்துக்கான கடவுளாக அப்ரோதீத்துவை மக்கள் வணங்கி வந்தனர். பாலியல் ஒழுக்கக் கேடு மற்றும் மத ரீதியான அல்லது சமய விபச்சாரம் கொரிந்துவில் பரவலாக இருந்தது. கொரிந்தியருக்கு எழுதின நிருபத்தில் பவுல் குறிப்பிடும் சில ஒழுக்கம் மற்றும் நெறிமுறை சார்ந்த பிரச்சனைகள்  சபையில் கொரிந்து பட்டண கலாச்சாரத்தின்  தாக்கத்தை காட்டுகிறது.

கொரிந்து சபையில் உள்ள விசுவாசிகளில் சிலர் முன்பு பாவம் நிறைந்த வாழ்க்கை வாழ்ந்தவர்கள் ஆவர். ஆயினும், அவர்கள் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவை ஏற்றுக் கொண்ட போது, கழுவப்பட்டு, பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்பட்டு, நீதிமான்களாக்கப்பட்டு, தேவனுக்கு பரிசுத்தமானவர்களாக மாறினார்கள் (வ.9-11).  கிறிஸ்தவர்களான பின்பும் கூட, கொரிந்து சபையின் விசுவாசிகளினிடையே சச்சரவுகளும், வழக்குகளும், பாலியல் ஒழுக்கம் சார்ந்த கேடுகளும் இருந்து வந்தன. அவர்கள் தங்கள் தவறான செயல்களுக்கு நியாயம் கற்பித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள் என்பதாக தெரிகிறது (வ.12). எனவே, ஒவ்வொரு விசுவாசியும் கர்த்தருக்குச் சொந்தமானவர்கள் என்றும், அவர்களுடைய சரீரங்கள் கிறிஸ்துவின் அவயவங்கள் என்றும் பவுல் அவர்களிடம் சொன்னார் (வ.15). கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் தங்கள் பாவ வாழ்க்கையை தொடர அனுமதிக்கக் கூடாது.; அவர்கள் வேசித்தனத்திற்கு விலகி ஓட வேண்டும். கொரிந்து விசுவாசிகள் தங்கள் சொந்த சரீரத்திற்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்யக் கூடாது என்பதை வலியுறுத்த பவுல் இரண்டு காரணங்களைக் கூறுகிறார்: ஒவ்வொரு கிறிஸ்தவரின் சரீரமும் அவர்களுக்குள் வாசம் செய்யும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் வாழ்கிற தேவ ஆலயமாக இருக்கிறது. ஒவ்வொரு கிறிஸ்தவரும் அவர்களை தன் விலையேறப்பெற்ற இரத்தத்தினால் விலைகொடுத்து வாங்கின கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவுக்குச் சொந்தமானவர்கள் ஆவர். ஆகவே, விசுவாசிகள் தங்கள் சரீரங்களினால் தேவனை மகிமைப்படுத்த வேண்டும் என பவுல் அறிவுரை கூறுகிறார்.  நாம் சிந்திப்போம்: நம் சரீரங்கள் மூலமாக தேவனை நாம் மகிமைப்படுத்துவது எப்படி?

பயன்பாடு: நான் இயேசுவை நேசித்து, அவருடைய போதனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளும்போது, பிதாவாகிய தேவனும், இயேசுவும் என்னுள் வாசம் செய்வார்கள் என  இயேசு வாக்குப்பண்ணி இருக்கிறார் (யோவான் 14:23). இங்கே, எனக்குள் வாழ்கிற பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரைப் பற்றி வேதம் சொல்கிறது. எங்கும் நிறைந்த தேவன், சர்வ வியாபி, எனக்குள் வாசம் செய்கிறார்! அப்படியானால், தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமான வாழ்க்கை வாழும்படி என் சரீரத்தை தீட்டுப்படுத்தாமல் இருக்க நான் எவ்வளவு அதிக கவனம் உள்ளவனாக இருக்க வேண்டும். நான் தேவனுக்குச் சொந்தம், என் சரீரமும் தேவனுக்குரியது ஆகும். ஆகவே, நான் எதைச் செய்தாலும், அவைகளை எல்லாம் தேவனுடைய மகிமைக்காக செய்ய வேண்டும். நான் தேவனுக்கு எதிராகப் பாவம் செய்வதற்கு என் சரீரத்தை (என் அவயவங்களை) பயன்படுத்த மாட்டேன். மாறாக, எவ்விதத்திலும் தேவனை மகிமைப்படுத்தும்படி என் சரீரத்தைப் பயன்படுத்துவேன்.

ஜெபம்: பரிசுத்த தேவனே, என்னை உம் சொந்தமாக ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு, எனக்குள் வாழ்வதற்காக உமக்கு நன்றி. ஆண்டவரே, என் ஆவி ஆத்துமா மற்றும் சரீரத்தில் உம்மை கர்த்தராகிய தேவனாக கனப்படுத்தி மகிமைப்படுத்த எனக்கு உதவியருளும். இயேசுவே, தேவனைத் துதிக்க, ஆராதிக்க, மற்றும் மகிமைப்படுத்த என் சரீரத்தை அனுதினமும் பயன்படுத்த உம் ஞானத்தை எனக்குத் தந்தருளும். ஆமென்.

Day – 242

You are not your own

READ: Song of Songs 3,4; Psalms 60; 1 Corinthians 6

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 6: 19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

OBSERVATION: “Don’t reside in a place where there is no temple” is an Indian proverb. In earlier days, temples played a significant role in cultural practice and social living. Corinth was an important trade center known for its temples, especially the temple of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, sensual pleasures, and procreation. Sexual immorality and religious or sacred prostitution were prevalent in Corinth. Some of the moral and ethical problems that Paul addresses in his epistle to Corinthians show the impact of Corinth’s culture on the church.

Some believers of Corinth Church lived a sinful life in the past. However, when they accepted Jesus Christ, they were “washed,” “sanctified,” “justified” (v.9-11), and became holy to the Lord. Even after becoming Christians, disputes, lawsuits, and sexual immorality existed among the believers in the Corinth Church. It seems they justified their wrong actions (v.12). So, Paul tells them that each believer is for the Lord and their bodies are “members of Christ” (v.15). Christians should not continue their sinful life; they must continue to “flee from sexual immorality.” Paul emphasizes two reasons why Corinth believers stop sinning against their own bodies: Each Christian’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in them. Every Christian belongs to the Lord Jesus, who bought them at a price with his precious blood. So, Paul advises the believers to honor God with their bodies. Let us think: How shall we honor God through our bodies?  

APPLICATION: Jesus promised that when I love him and obey his teaching, he and God the Father will come and dwell with me (Jn.14:23). Here, the Bible says of Holy Spirit who lives in me. All-present God lives within me! If so, how much more should I be careful not to defile my body to live a pleasing life for God. My body and I belong to God. Hence, whatever I do, I should do it all for the glory of God. I will not use my body (parts) to sin against God but will use it to honor God in every possible way.

PRAYER: Holy God, thank you for accepting me as your own and living in me. Lord, help me honor you as my Lord God in my spirit, soul, and body. Jesus, give me your wisdom to use my body to praise, worship, and honor God every day. Amen.

பிசாசுக்கு இடம் கொடாதிருங்கள்

வேத வசனம்:  1 கொரிந்தியர் 5: 6. நீங்கள் மேன்மைபாராட்டுகிறது நல்லதல்ல; கொஞ்சம் புளித்தமா பிசைந்தமா முழுவதையும் புளிப்பாக்குமென்று அறியீர்களா?
7. ஆகையால், நீங்கள் புளிப்பில்லாதவர்களாயிருக்கிறபடியே, புதிதாய்ப் பிசைந்த மாவாயிருக்கும்படிக்கு, பழைய புளித்தமாவைப் புறம்பே கழித்துப்போடுங்கள். ஏனெனில் நம்முடைய பஸ்காவாகிய கிறிஸ்து நமக்காக பலியிடப்பட்டிருக்கிறாரே.
8. ஆதலால் பழைய புளித்தமாவோடே அல்ல, துர்க்குணம் பொல்லாப்பு என்னும் புளித்தமாவோடும் அல்ல, துப்புரவு உண்மை என்னும் புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பத்தோடே பண்டிகையை ஆசரிக்கக்கடவோம்.

கவனித்தல்:  1 கொரிந்தியர் 5ம் அதிகாரத்தில், கொரிந்து சபையில் இருந்த மற்றுமொரு முக்கியமான பிரச்சனை பற்றி பவுல் பேசுகிறார். கொரிந்து விசுவாசிகள் தங்கள் ஆவிக்குரிய வாழ்க்கை மற்றும் அனைவரையும் ஏற்றுக் கொள்ளும் தன்மை பற்றி பெருமை பேசிக் கொண்டு இருந்திருக்கலாம். ஆனால், பவுல் அவர்கள் பெருமை பேசுவதற்கு எதிராகக்  கேள்வி எழுப்புகிறார். கொரிந்து விசுவாசிகள் செய்த தவறு என்ன? ஒரு விசுவாசியின் பாலியல் ரீதியிலான ஒழுக்கக் கேட்டை அவர்கள் கண்டும் காணாதவர்கள் போல இருந்தார்கள். மற்றவர்கள் செய்யும் தவறுக்கு நாம் எப்படி பொறுப்பாக முடியும் என்று சில கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் கேட்கக் கூடும். கொரிந்து சபையினர் அந்த மனிதனின் பாவம் குறித்து அறிந்திருந்தார்கள். ஆயினும், அவர்கள் அந்த மனிதனை எதிர்க்கவோ அல்லது சபையில் கலந்து கொள்வதைத் தடுக்கவோ செய்ய வில்லை. அப்படிப்பட்ட நபர்களுக்கு எதிராக கடுமையான நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுப்பது சபையின் ஆரோக்கியத்திற்கு நல்லது. அது சம்பந்தப்பட்ட நபர் மனம் திரும்பி தேவனுடன் ஒப்புரவாக ஒரு வாய்ப்பைக் கொடுக்கும். மற்ற விசுவாசிகளும் கொடிய பாவங்களைக் குறித்து எச்சரிக்கை செய்யப்பட்டு, பாவம் செய்வதில் இருந்து பாதுகாக்கப்படுவார்கள். ஆகவே, பவுல் தன் கருத்தை தெளிவாக விளக்கும்பொருட்டு, அனைவருக்கும் தெரிந்த பிசைந்த மாவைப் புளிக்க வைக்கும் புளித்த மா பற்றிய உருவகத்தைப் பயன்படுத்துகிறார்.

”கொஞ்சம் புளித்தமா பிசைந்தமா முழுவதையும் புளிப்பாக்கு”வது போல, ஒரு மனிதனின் பாவமானது, சபை அதை முறையாக கையாள வில்லை எனில், மொத்த சபையையும் பாதிக்கக் கூடும். தேவனுடைய சபையானது ஒரு மனிதன் மற்ற விசுவாசிகளைக் கறைப்படுத்த அனுமதிக்கக் கூடாது. ஆகவே, ஒழுக்கக் கேடான ஒரு வாழ்க்கையை வாழ்கிற மனிதனை விட்டு சபையானது விலக வேண்டும். கிறிஸ்துவைப் பின்பற்றுகிறவர்கள் தங்கள் பழைய புளித்த மாவை, கிறிஸ்துவை ஏற்றுக் கொள்வதற்கு முன்பு அவர்களைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்திய பழைய பாவ பழக்க வழக்கங்களை களைந்து போட வேண்டும், அவைகளை தங்களை விட்டு விலக்க வேண்டும். அதற்குப் பதிலாக, கிறிஸ்துவில் அவர்கள் யார் என்பதை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டு அறிக்கையிட வேண்டும். நம்மை பரிசுத்தப்படுத்துகிற நம் ஆண்டவரின் தியாகத்தை நாம் கொண்டாடும்போது, நாம் அதை துப்புரவோடும்(தூய மனதுடனும்) உண்மையோடும் செய்ய வேண்டும்.  நம் மாம்சத்தின் பாவ இச்சைகளைத் திருப்தி செய்து கொள்வதற்கு நாம் நம்மை அனுமதிக்கக் கூடாது. மாறாக, நம் பழைய பாவ மனுஷனை கிறிஸ்துவுடனே கூட சிலுவையில் அறைந்து, கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுவைத் தரித்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்.

பயன்பாடு:, மற்றவர்கள் பாவம் செய்தாலும், சபையில் பாவங்களை சகித்துக் கொள்வதன் பின்விளைவுகளைக் குறித்து ஒரு கிறிஸ்தவராக நான் எச்சரிக்கையுடன் இருக்க வேண்டும். இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவை விசுவாசிப்பதினால் நான் பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறேன்.  நான் பிசாசுக்கு இடம் கொடுக்கக் கூடாது. “பாலியத்துக்குரிய இச்சைகளுக்கு நீ விலகியோடி, சுத்த இருதயத்தோடே கர்த்தரைத் தொழுதுகொள்ளுகிறவர்களுடனே, நீதியையும் விசுவாசத்தையும் அன்பையும் சமாதானத்தையும் அடையும்படி நாடு” என்று வேதாகமம் கூறுகிறது (2 தீமோ.2:22). நான் விசுவாசத்தினால், கிறிஸ்துவுடனே கூட வாழ்கிறேன்.

ஜெபம்: இயேசுவே, தேவனுடனான ஒரு தனிப்பட்ட உறவு, அவருடைய மன்னிப்பு, மற்றும் அன்பை நான் பெற்றனுபவிக்க உதவும் உம் தியாக மரணத்திற்காக உமக்கு நன்றி. ஆண்டவரே, பாவத்தின் ஆபத்துகளைக் குறித்து எச்சரிக்கையாக இருக்கவும், பாவத்தில் என்னைச் சிக்கவைக்கும் எதையும் என்னை விட்டு அகற்றவும் எனக்கு உதவியருளும். என் தேவனே, உமக்குப் பிரியமான ஒரு வாழ்க்கையை நான் வாழ விரும்புகிறேன். ஆமென்.

Day - 241

Do not give the devil a foothold

READ: Song of Songs 1,2; Psalms 59; 1 Corinthians 5

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 5: 6 Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?
7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
8 Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

OBSERVATION: In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul addresses another critical problem that existed in the Corinth Church. Corinth believers may have boasted about their spirituality and acceptance of all in the Church. But Paul questions against their boasting. What was wrong with the Corinth believers? They turned a blind eye to the sexual immorality of a believer. Some Christians may think that how could we be responsible for others’ mistakes. It seems the Corinth Church was aware of the man’s sin, yet they did not confront or forbid him to attend the Church. Taking stringent actions against such persons is good for the health of the Church. It would provide an opportunity for the concerned person to repent and reconcile with God. Other believers will be warned and protected against such heinous sins. So, Paul uses a familiar metaphor of yeast that leavens the dough to make his point clear.

Like “a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough,” one man’s sin could affect the whole Church if it does not correctly handle it. The church of God should not allow a person to corrupt other believers. Therefore, the Church should get rid of a person who lives an immoral life. The followers of Christ need to put away their old yeast, their former sinful practices that defiled them before they accepted Christ. Instead, they need to acknowledge who they are in Christ. When we celebrate the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus that sanctified us, we should do it with sincerity and truth. We should not allow ourselves to gratify the sinful desires of our flesh. Instead, we must crucify our old self with Christ and clothe ourselves with the Lord Jesus.

 APPLICATION: As a Christian, I should be sensitive to the consequences of tolerating the sins within the Church, even if others commit them. I am sanctified by faith through the sacrifice of Christ. I should not give a foothold to the devil. The Bible says, “Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart” (2 Tim.2:22).  I live by faith and with Jesus Christ.

PRAYER: Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice that helps us to enjoy a personal relationship with God, his forgiveness, and love. Lord, help me be careful about the dangers of sin and get rid of anything that traps me in sin. My God, I desire to live a life that pleases you. Help me, Oh Lord! Amen.

ஞானத்தின் இறுதி வார்த்தைகள்

வாசிக்க: பிரசங்கி 11,12; சங்கீதம் 58; 1 கொரிந்தியர் 4

வேத வசனம்:  பிரசங்கி 11: 5. ஆவியின் வழி இன்னதென்றும், கர்ப்பவதியின் வயிற்றில் எலும்புகள் உருவாகும் விதம் இன்னதென்றும் நீ அறியாதிருக்கிறதுபோலவே, எல்லாவற்றையும் செய்கிற தேவனுடைய செயல்களையும் நீ அறியாய்.

கவனித்தல்:  அறிவு என்பது அனைவருக்கும் கிடைக்கக் கூடிய ஒரு காலத்தில் நாம் வாழ்கிறோம். நவீன தொழில்நுட்பமானது நாம் விரும்புகிற தகவலை நொடிப்பொழுதில், விரல்நுனியில் கண்டு கொள்ள நமக்கு உதவுகிறது. அறிவியலின் உதவியுடன் நாம் எல்லாவற்றையும் அறிந்து கொள்ள முடியும் என்று பலர் நம்புகின்றனர். அறிவியல் எல்லா காரியங்களுக்கும் பதில் தருகிறதா? ஆம். என் பதிலை தவறாகப் புரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டாம். மனித வாழ்க்கையைப் பற்றிய மறைவான சில காரியங்களுக்கு இப்பொழுது எந்த பதிலும் இல்லை என்று அறிவியல் கூறுகிறது (உதாரணமாக, மனித மூளையின் செயல்பாடு). நம் இருதயமானது செயல்படுவதற்கான சக்தியை எங்கிருந்து பெறுகிறது என்பதைப் பற்றி என்றாவது யோசித்திருக்கிறீர்களா? நவீன மருத்துவ உபகரணங்களின் உதவியுடன், ஒரு தாயின் வயிற்றில் குழந்தை எப்படி வளர்கிறது என்பதைப் பார்க்கும் பாக்கியம் நமக்கு கிடைத்திருக்கிறது. ஆயினும், மனித வாழ்க்கை தொடர்பான பல காரியங்களில் மனித அறிவுக்கு ஒரு எல்லை உண்டு.

பிரசங்கியின் இறுதி வார்த்தைகள் இந்த எல்லையை எதிரொலிப்பதாக இருக்கிறது. எல்லாம் மாயை என்று கண்டு கொள்ள உதவிய ஞானமானது, சிருஷ்டிகராகிய தேவனின் கிரியைகளைப் புரிந்து கொள்வதற்கு உதவ வில்லை. இந்தப் புரிதலுடன், பிரசங்கி புத்தகத்தை எழுதின ஞானி நம் ஞானத்தை முறையாகப் பயன்படுத்துவதற்கு சில ஆலோசனைகளைப் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறார்: நீங்கள் மகிழ்ந்து, இருதய விருப்பத்தின் படி சென்று, கண்கள் விரும்பியவைகளைக் கண்டு மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கும்போது, ஒரு கடிவாளத்தைப் போடுங்கள் (வ.9). தாமதம் செய்யாமல் உன் சிருஷ்டிகராகிய தேவனை நினைத்திடுங்கள் (பிரசங்கி 12:1-7). ”தேவனுக்குப் பயந்து, அவர் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்; எல்லா மனுஷர்மேலும் விழுந்த கடமை இதுவே” என்று பிரசங்கி சொல்கிறார் (பிர.12:13). இது அனைவருக்கும் எல்லாக் காலத்திற்கும் பொருத்தமான, காலத்தால் அழியாத செய்தி ஆகும். வாழ்க்கையின் நோக்கம் மற்றும் அர்த்தத்தையும், நம் ஞானத்தின் உண்மையான பயனையும் தேவனிடத்தில்  மட்டுமே நாம் கண்டு கொள்ள முடியும்.

பயன்பாடு: என் சிருஷ்டிகராகிய தேவன் அனைத்தையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறார். அவரிடம் இருந்து நான் எதையும் மறைக்க முடியாது. என் வாழ்க்கை மற்றும் செயல்கள் குறித்து நான் தேவனுக்குக் கணக்கொப்புவிக்க வேண்டும். நான் அவரிடம் சாக்குப்போக்குகள் சொல்லமுடியாது/சொல்லக்கூடாது. அனுதினமும் தேவனைத் தேடுதல் என்பது என் கடமை ஆகும். நான் தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையை வெறுமனே கேட்கிறவராக மட்டும் இல்லாமல், அதன் படி செயல்படுகிறவராகவும் இருக்க வேண்டும் (யாக்கோபு 1:22). கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதலே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பமும் முடிவுமாக (காரியத்தின் கடைத்தொகையுமாக) இருக்கிறது.

Day – 240 

The Conclusion of Wisdom

READ: Ecclesiastes 11,12; Psalms 58; 1 Corinthians 4

SCRIPTURE:  Ecclesiastes 11: 5 As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.

OBSERVATION: We are living in an era where knowledge is accessible to all. Modern technology helps us to find the data we want within seconds and at our fingertips. Many people believe that we can know everything with the help of science. Does science explain everything? YES. Don’t take my word amiss. Modern science says that there is no answer available now for some of the mysteries of human life (E.g. the human brain’s function). Have you ever wondered where does our heart get the energy to function? With the help of the latest medical facilities, we are blessed to see a baby’s growth in a mothers’ womb. However, human knowledge has a limitation in many things related to human life.

The Ecclesiastes’ final words echo this limitation. The wisdom that helped to see all things are meaningless is not able to understand the work of the Creator God. With this realization, the wise man who wrote the Ecclesiastes shares some suggestions to appropriately use our wisdom: when you are happy and following your heart desires and seeing what your eyes want to see, put a bridle (v.9). Remember your Creator before it gets too late (Ecc.12:1-7). “Fear God and keep his commandments,” the Ecclesiastes says, “for this is the duty of all mankind” (Ecc.12:13). It is a timeless message for all. We can find the purpose and meaning of life and the usefulness of our wisdom only in God.

APPLICATION: My Creator God knows everything. I cannot hide anything from him. I must give account to God concerning my life and actions. I cannot/should not say any excuses to God. It is my duty to seek God every day. I should not be a person who is merely listening to the word of God.  I must do what it says (James 1.22). The fear of the Lord is the beginning and conclusion of wisdom.  

PRAYER: Creator God, thank you for the good life you have given me to know that you are my God. I may not know many things in this world. But I do know that you love me. Knowing you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent for us, is eternal life. Lord Jesus, help me to remain in your love today and forever. Amen.

வேத வசனம்:  1 கொரிந்தியர் 3: 3. பொறாமையும் வாக்குவாதமும் பேதகங்களும் உங்களுக்குள் இருக்கிறபடியால், நீங்கள் மாம்சத்திற்குரியவர்களாயிருந்து மனுஷமார்க்கமாய் நடக்கிறீர்களல்லவா?
4. ஒருவன் நான் பவுலைச் சேர்ந்தவனென்றும், வேறொருவன் நான் அப்பொல்லோவைச் சேர்ந்தவனென்றும் சொல்லுகிறபடியால் நீங்கள் மாம்சத்திற்குரியவர்களல்லவா?

கவனித்தல்: கொரிந்து சபையின் முக்கியமான பிரச்சனைகளில் ஒன்றைப் பற்றி 1 கொரிந்தியர் 3ல் அப்போஸ்தலனாகிய பவுல் பேசுகிறார். கொரிந்து சபை விசுவாசிகளிடையே பொறாமை, வாக்குவாதங்கள் மற்றும் பிரிவினைகள் காணப்பட்டது. ஆதிச்சபையின் சிறந்த தலைவர்கள் குறித்த தங்கள் பற்றுதல்/தொடர்பு குறித்து அவர்கள் பெருமை பாராட்டி, ஒருவரோடொருவர் வாக்குவாதம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தனர். அவர்கள் உலகப்பிரகாரமான மக்களைப் போல செயல்பட்டு, முதிர்ச்சியற்றவர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள் என்று பவுல் அவர்களை கடுமையாக கடிந்து கொண்டார்.  கொரிந்து சபையில் உள்ள விசுவாசிகள் பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்பட்டவர்கள், பரிசுத்தமாகும்படி அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்கள் என்பது உண்மைதான். ஆயினும், அவர்கள் பின்பற்ற விரும்பிய சபைத் தலைவர்களைப் பற்றிய விருப்பத்தின் அடிப்படையில் அவர்களிடையே பிரிவினைகள் இருந்தன. பவுல் அதை அபத்தமான ஒரு காரியம் என்றும், அந்த தலைவர்கள் அல்ல, கிறிஸ்துவே அவர்களுக்காக மரித்தவர் என்பதை தெளிவுபடுத்தினார் (1 கொரி.1,3). கொரிந்து விசுவாசிகள் தேவனுடைய ஆலயமாக இருக்கிறார்கள் என்றும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் அவர்களிடையே வாசம் செய்கிறார் என்றும் பவுல் அவர்களுக்கு நினைவுபடுத்தினார். கொரிந்து விசுவாசிகளிடையே தங்கள் தலைவர்களைக் குறித்து மேன்மை பாராட்டுதல் இருக்கக் கூடாது என்று பவுல் அறிவுறுத்தினார்.  அந்த தலைவர்கள் சாதாரண மனிதர்கள் மற்றும் தேவனுக்கு உடன் வேலையாட்களுமாக இருக்கிறார்கள். மறுபுறம், கிறிஸ்து தேவனுடையவராக இருப்பது போல எல்லா விசுவாசிகளும் கிறிஸ்துவினுடையவர்களாக இருக்கிறார்கள்.

 “நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் ஒரே வேதாகமத்தைத் தானே நம்புகிறீர்கள்; பின்பு ஏன் உங்களிடையே இவ்வளவு பிரிவினைகள், பிரிவுகள்” என்பன போன்ற கேள்விகளைக் கேட்டு ஜனங்கள் கிறிஸ்தவத்தை தாக்குகிறார்கள்.  அக்கேள்விகளுக்கு பதிலளிக்கையில், அத்தகைய பிரிவினைகளுக்கு எது காரணமாக இருக்கிறது என்பதை நாம் அறிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். அபத்தமான காரியங்கள் அல்லது உலகப்பிரகாரமான நடைமுறைகள் எதுவும் நம்மிடையே பிரிவினையை உண்டாக்க கிறிஸ்தவர்களாகிய நாம் அனுமதிக்கக் கூடாது. மற்ற சக மனிதர்களுடன் அல்ல, கிறிஸ்துவுடன் மட்டுமே நாம் நம்மை அடையாளப்படுத்திக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். இப்படி செய்வதன் மூலம், நாம் மனிதர்களால் வரும் ஏமாற்றங்களுக்கு நம்மை விலக்கி பாதுகாத்துக் கொள்கிறோம்.  நாம் கிறிஸ்துவினுடையவர்கள். இது எவ்வளவு அற்புதமானது!

பயன்பாடு: நான் சாதாரணமான ஒரு நபராக இருந்தாலும், நான் ஆராதிக்கும் தேவன் தனித்துவமானவர். சுயநலமான மற்றும் உலகப்பிரகாரமான நடைமுறைகளை நான் பின்பற்றக் கூடாது என அவர் எதிர்பார்க்கிறார். நான் வியந்து போற்றும் தலைவர்களுடன் என்னை அடையாளப்படுத்திக் கொள்வதற்குப் பதிலாக, நான் கிறிஸ்துவைப் பின்பற்றுகிறவராக இருக்க வேண்டும். நான் கிறிஸ்துவினுடையவன்(ள்).

Day - 239

You are of Christ

READ: Ecclesiastes 9,10; Psalms 57; 1 Corinthians 3

SCRIPTURE: 1 Corinthians 3: 3 You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans?
4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings?

OBSERVATION: In 1 Cor.3, Apostle Paul speaks about one of the crucial issues of the Corinth Church. The believers in the Corinth Church had jealousy and were quarreling with each other. They boasted about their affinity with great leaders of the early Church and argued with one another. Paul strongly rebukes them that they are behaving like worldly people and are immature. Of course, the believers in the Corinth Church are “sanctified in Christ” and “called to his (God’s) holy people.” Yet, they had divisions among them based on their preference of the church leaders that they wanted to follow. Paul called it an absurdity and made it clear that it was Christ who died for them, not the human leaders (1 Cor.1, 3). Paul reminded the Corinth believers that they are God’s temple and Holy Spirit lives among them. Paul admonished the Corinth believers that there should be no boasting about human leaders; Those leaders are mere men and “co-workers in God’s service.” On the other hand, all believers are of Christ just as Christ is of God.

People attack Christianity by asking questions like, “why you have so many divisions among you when you all believe in the same Bible.” In answering such questions, we must know what causes such divisions. We Christians should not allow any absurdities or worldly practices to divide us.  We should identify ourselves only with Christ, not with any fellow human beings. By doing this, we protect ourselves from human deception. We are of Christ. How wonderful it is!

APPLICATION: Although I am an ordinary human being, the God I worship is unique. He expects me not to follow any selfish and worldly behaviors. Instead of identifying myself with any human leaders whom I admire, I should follow Christ. I belong to Christ.

PRAYER: Jesus, thank you for your call to live as your holy people. Lord, thank you for your sacrifice that united me with God and men. Holy Spirit, thank you for living within me. My God, protect me from all things that distract me away from you. Loving Lord, help me to live as your own. Amen.

நிகழ்காலத்தில் வாழ்தல்

வாசிக்க: பிரசங்கி 7,8; சங்கீதம் 56; 1 கொரிந்தியர் 2

வேத வசனம்:  பிரசங்கி 7: 14. வாழ்வுகாலத்தில் நன்மையை அநுபவித்திரு, தாழ்வுகாலத்தில் சிந்தனைசெய்; மனுஷன் தனக்குப்பின் வருவதொன்றையும் கண்டுபிடியாதபடிக்கு தேவன் இவ்விரண்டையும் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று எதிரிடையாக வைத்திருக்கிறார்.

கவனித்தல்: எல்லோருமே மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கவும், அவர்கள் ஆசைப்படும் அனைத்தையும் பெறுகிற ஒரு நல்ல வாழ்க்கையை உடையவர்களாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என்றும் விரும்புகிறார்கள்.  தங்கள் வாழ்வில் ஒரு மோசமான நாள் வரவேண்டும் என்று எவரும் விரும்புவதில்லை.  ஆயினும், வாழ்க்கையைப் பற்றிய நம் எதிர்பார்ப்புகள் மற்றும் யதார்த்தம் ஆகியவை எப்பொழுதும்  ஒன்றாக செல்வதில்லை. நல்ல மற்றும் தாழ்வு காலம் இரண்டிலும் எப்படி வாழ்வது என்பதற்கான சில நடைமுறை அறிவுரைகளை பிரசங்கி 7ம் அதிகாரம் தருகிறது. நாம் நல்ல நாட்களை உடையவர்களாக இருக்கும்போது, வேறெதைப் பற்றியும் யோசிக்காமல், மகிழ்ச்சியாக, பாடல்களைப் பாடி தேவனைத் துதித்துக் கொண்டிருக்க முடியும். சில கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் மிஞ்சின நீதிமான்களாக இருந்து, கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கிற நல்ல நாட்களை கொண்டாடி மகிழ்கிற சந்தோசத்தை இழந்து விடுகிறார்கள்.  ஆயினும், நம் நல்ல நாட்களை மகிழ்வுடன் செலவழிக்கும்போது, மாம்சத்தையும் அதின் ஆசை இச்சைகளையும் திருப்திப்படுத்துகிற தவறை செய்யாமல் இருப்பதற்கு கவனமாக இருக்க வேண்டும். நம் உண்மையான மகிழ்ச்சி கர்த்தரிடத்தில் இருந்தே வருகிறது. ”தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யம் புசிப்பும் குடிப்புமல்ல, அது நீதியும் சமாதானமும் பரிசுத்த ஆவியினாலுண்டாகும் சந்தோஷமுமாயிருக்கிறது” (ரோமர் 14:17).

நம் வாழ்வில் நாம் அனேக ஏற்ற இறக்கங்கள், மகிழ்ச்சி மற்றும் துக்கம், செல்வம் மற்றும் ஒன்றுமில்லாமல் ஆகியவற்றை கடந்து வருகிறோம். நாம் மோசமான ஒரு நாளை அல்லது காரியத்தை எதிர்கொள்கையில், அதை ஏற்றுக் கொள்வது மிகவும் கடினமானதாக இருக்கிறது. அப்படிப்பட்ட தருணங்களில் தேவனுடைய ஆளுகையின் கீழ் எல்லாம் இருக்கிறது என்பதை நாம் நினைத்துப் பார்க்க பிரசங்கி நம்மை அழைக்கிறார். நாம் எதிர்கொள்வது என்னவாக நேர்ந்தாலும், அது தேவனுடைய கட்டுப்பாட்டின் கீழ் இருக்கிறது என்பதை நாம் நினைவில் கொள்ள வேண்டும். ”அவருடைய தீர்மானத்தின்படி அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களாய் தேவனிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறவர்களுக்குச் சகலமும் நன்மைக்கு ஏதுவாக நடக்கிறதென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்” என்று அப்போஸ்தலனாகிய பவுல் கூறுகிறார் (ரோமர் 8:28). எல்லாம் நன்மைக்கே என்று நாம் கூற முடியுமா? தேவன் அனைத்தையும் செய்ய/மாற்ற வல்லவர் என்று நாம் விசுவாசிக்கிறோம். எல்லாம் நன்மைக்கே என்று நாம் கூறும்போது, தேவனுடைய வாக்குத்தத்தங்களை நம்பி, நாம் தேவனைச் சார்ந்து இருக்கிறோம் என்பதை நினைவுபடுத்திக் கொள்கிறோம். மேலும், நம் வெற்றிகளில் இருந்து கற்றுக்கொள்ளும் காரியங்களைக் காட்டிலும், நம் தோல்விகள் மற்றும் தவறுகளில் இருந்து அதிக காரியங்களை நாம் கற்றுக் கொள்கிறோம். எதிர்காலத்தைக் குறித்து நமக்கு எதுவும் தெரியாது. ஆனால் தேவன் அதை அறிந்திருக்கிறார். நம் காலங்கள் தேவனுடைய கரங்களில் இருக்கிறது (சங்.31:15). நாளைய தினத்தைக் குறித்து கவலைப்படாமல், அந்தந்த நாள், ஒரு சமயத்தில் ஒரே ஒரு நாள், மீது மட்டும் கவனம் செலுத்த வேண்டும் என இயேசு தன் மலைப்பிரசங்கத்தில் நம்மை உற்சாகப்படுத்துகிறார் (மத்.6:34). நம் வாழ்வின் ஒவ்வொருநாளும் தேவன் நமக்குக் கொடுத்த ஈவு ஆகும். நாம் அதை தேவ மகிமைக்காக பயன்படுத்துவதற்கான நடைமுறை ஞானத்தை தேவன் நமக்குத் தருகிறார்.

 பயன்பாடு: சர்வ வல்லமையுள்ள தேவனுடைய கரங்களில் நான் இருக்கிறேன். தேவன் எப்பொழுதும், நல்ல மற்றும் மோசமான காலங்களில், என்னுடன் இருக்கிறார்.  ஆகவே, எனக்கு என்ன நேர்ந்தாலும் நான் எதற்கும் பயப்படேன். என் வாழ்க்கையில் நான் பெறும் நல்ல நாட்கள் எனக்கு பலத்தையும் என் ஆத்துமாவை புதுப்பிக்கவும் செய்கிறது. மோசமான நாட்களினூடாகச் செல்லுதல், என் பலவீனங்கள், தேவனைச் சார்ந்து நான் வாழ வேண்டிய அவசியம், மற்றும் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக தாழ்மையாக நடத்தல் ஆகியவற்றை எனக்கு நினைவுபடுத்துகிறது. நான் தேவனை எக்காலத்திலும் நம்ப முடியும்.

ஜெபம்: அனைத்தையும் ஆளுகை செய்யும் தேவனே, என் அனுதின வாழ்வில் நான் பயன்படுத்தும்படி நீர் இன்று நினைவுபடுத்துகிற நடைமுறை ஞானத்திற்காக உமக்கு நன்றி. இயேசுவே, தேவனுக்கு முன்பாக மனத்தாழ்மையுடன் நடப்பதற்கு உம் ஞானத்தைத் தந்தருளும். பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவரே, உம்முடன் என் வாழ்க்கையில் மகிழ்ச்சியாக இருக்கவும், தேவ மகிமைக்காக வாழவும் இன்று எனக்கு உதவியருளும். ஆமென்.

Day - 238

Living in the present

READ: Ecclesiastes 7,8; Psalms 56; 1 Corinthians 2

SCRIPTURE: Ecclesiastes 7: 14 When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future.

OBSERVATION: Everybody wants to be happy and have a good life that gives them all they desire. Nobody would like to have a bad day in their life. However, our expectations and reality of life do not always go together. Ecclesiastes 7 presents some practical advice to handle good and bad. Without thinking about anything else, we can be happy, praise God, and sing songs when we have good times. Some Christians become overrighteous, and they missed the joy of celebrating the good days that the Lord gives them. However, we should be careful to avoid gratifying “our flesh with its passion and desires” while enjoying our good days. Our true joy comes from the Lord. “For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit” (Rom.14:17).

We come across many ups and downs, joy and sorrow, good health and sickness, abundance and poverty in our lives. When we face a bad day or a thing, we find it hard to accept it. Ecclesiastes calls us to consider God’s sovereignty during such times. We should remember, whatever we may face, everything is under God’s control. Apostle Paul says, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Rom.8:28). Can we say everything is for good? We believe God has the power to do/change everything. When we say that all things are for good, we trust God’s promises and express our dependence on God. Moreover, we learn many things from our failures and mistakes than we learn from our successes. We know nothing about the future. But God knows it. Our times are in God’s hands (Ps.31:15). Jesus, in his Sermon on the Mount, encourages us not to worry about tomorrow but to focus on one day at a time (Mt.6:34). Each day of our life is a gift from God. God gives us the practical wisdom to use it for his glory.

APPLICATION:  I am in the hands of almighty God. God is with me all the time, both in good and bad times. So, whatever happens to me, I fear nothing. The good days I have in my life give me energy and refresh my soul. Going through bad days reminds me of my weaknesses and the need to depend on God and walk humbly before the Lord. I can trust God always.

PRAYER: Sovereign God, thank you for the practical wisdom you remind me today to apply in my daily life. Jesus, give me your wisdom to walk humbly before God. Holy Spirit, help me today to enjoy my life with you and live for God’s glory. Amen.

பண ஆசை, ஒரு முடிவிலா பயணம்

வாசிக்க: பிரசங்கி 5,6; சங்கீதம் 55; 1 கொரிந்தியர் 1

வேத வசனம்:  பிரசங்கி 5: 10. பணப்பிரியன் பணத்தினால் திருப்தியடைவதில்லை; செல்வப்பிரியன் செல்வப்பெருக்கினால் திருப்தியடைவதில்லை; இதுவும் மாயையே.

கவனித்தல்: அனேகர் பணத்தைக் கொண்டு எதையும் வாங்கிவிடமுடியும் என்று நினைக்கிறார்கள். தங்களுக்கு தேவையான அளவு பணத்தை உடையவர்கள் வாழ்வில் அவர்கள் விரும்பும் அனைத்தையும் உடையவர்களாக இருப்பார்கள் என்று சிலர் நம்புகிறார்கள். ஆயினும், நமக்குத் தேவையான அனைத்தையும் பணத்தினால் விலைகொடுத்து வாங்க முடியாது என்பது அனைவரும் அறிந்த ஒன்று ஆகும். பணம் மற்றும் செல்வம் பற்றி பிரசங்கி 5ஆம் அதிகாரம் சில முக்கியமான உண்மைகளை நமக்குப் போதிக்கிறது. பண ஆசையுடையவர்கள் மற்றும் செல்வப்பிரியர் ஒருபோதும் திருப்தியடைவதில்லை என வசனம் 10 கூறுகிறது. தன்னிடம் இருக்கும் பணம் மற்றும் செல்வம் குறித்து மன திருப்தியுடன் இருப்பவர்களைக் காண்பதரிது. ஒருவருடைய வாழ்வில் மகிழ்ச்சியையும் சமாதானத்தையும் கொண்டு வருவதற்குப் பதிலாக, அபரிதமான பணம் மற்றும் செல்வமானது தூக்கமின்மையையும், கவலைகளையும், மன அழுத்தங்களையும் மற்றும் கேடுகளையும் உண்டாக்குகிறது (வ.11-13). ஆயினும், பண ஆசை உடையவர்கள் இன்னும் அதிகமதிகமாக சொத்துக்களைச் சேர்ப்பதை நிறுத்துவதில்லை. ”பண ஆசை எல்லாத் தீமைக்கும் வேராயிருக்கிறது; சிலர் அதை இச்சித்து, விசுவாசத்தைவிட்டு வழுவி, அநேக வேதனைகளாலே தங்களை உருவக் குத்திக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்” என்று பரிசுத்த வேதாகமம் கூறுகிறது (1 தீமோ.6:10).

மறுபக்கத்திலோ, உண்மையான திருப்தியானது தேவனிடம் இருந்து வருகிறது என்று பிரசங்கி சொல்கிறார். ”தேவன் ஐசுவரியத்தையும் சம்பத்தையும் எவனுக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறாரோ, அவன் அதிலே புசிக்கவும், தன் பங்கைப் பெறவும், தன் பிரயாசத்திலே மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கவும் அவனுக்கு அதிகாரம் அளிப்பது தேவனுடைய அநுக்கிரகம்” (பிர.5:18-19). ”ஐசுவரியத்தைச் சம்பாதிக்கிறதற்கான பெலனைத்” தருகிறவர் தேவனே (உபா.8:18). ”கர்த்தரின் ஆசீர்வாதமே ஐசுவரியத்தைத் தரும்; அதனோடே அவர் வேதனையைக் கூட்டார்” என்று நீதி.10:22 கூறுகிறது. தேவ மனிதராக இருக்கும் ஒரு ஆண் அல்லது பெண் பண ஆசைக்கு விலகி இருக்க வேண்டும் (1 தீமோ.6:11). பண ஆசையானது பொருளாசைக்கு நம்மை வழிநடத்துகிறதாக இருக்கிறது. பொருளாசை என்பது விக்கிரகாராதனை என்றும், விக்கிரக வணக்கத்தை சேர்ந்தவர்கள் ”தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யமாகிய கிறிஸ்துவின் ராஜ்யத்திலே சுதந்தரமடைவதில்லை” என்று வேதம் நம்மை எச்சரிக்கிறது (எபே.5:10; கொலோ.3:5). எந்தச் சூழ்நிலையிலும் நாம் மனரம்மியமாக இருப்பதற்கு கற்றுக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். தேவனுடைய நோக்கங்களுக்காகவும் தேவை உள்ளவர்களுக்கு உதவுவதற்காகவும் செலவழிக்க நாம் ஆயத்தமாக இருக்க வேண்டும்.

 பயன்பாடு: ”போதுமென்கிற மனதுடனே கூடிய தேவபக்தியே மிகுந்த ஆதாயம்” என்பதை நாம் அறிந்திருக்க வேண்டும். பண ஆசையானது என் வாழ்வில் கொண்டு வருகிற ஆபத்துகளைப் பற்றி நாம் எச்சரிக்கையாக இருந்து, அவைகளை விட்டு விலகி ஓட வேண்டும். பரலோகத்தில் நான் பொக்கிஷங்களை சேர்த்து வைப்பேன்.

ஜெபம்: தந்தையாகிய தெய்வமே, உம் அன்பு, மன்னிப்பு, மகிழ்ச்சி மற்றும் சமாதானத்தை எனக்குத் தந்ததற்காக உமக்கு நன்றி. என் வாழ்வின் மகிழ்ச்சியை, பணத்திலோ அல்லது உலகப் பிரகாரமான உடைமைகளிலோ நான் கண்டு கொள்ள முடியாது.  மாறாக, உம்மில் மட்டுமே நான் கண்டு கொள்ள முடியும். ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசுவே, வேறெதைக் காட்டிலும் அதிகமாக உம்மை நேசிக்கவும், உம் மகிமைக்காக வாழவும் எனக்கு உதவியருளும். ஆமென்.

Love of money, a chasing after the wind

READ: Ecclesiastes 5,6; Psalms 55; 1 Corinthians 1

SCRIPTURE: Ecclesiastes 5: 10 Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless.

OBSERVATION: Many people think that they could buy anything with money. Some believe that those who have enough money will have everything they need for their life. However, it is an open secret that money cannot buy all we need. Ecclesiastes 5 teaches us some key truths concerning money and wealth. Verse 10 says that those who love money and wealth never have satisfaction. It is rare to see a rich person who is content with the money s/he has. Instead of bringing joy and peace to one’s life, the abundance of money and wealth gives insomnia, worries, depressions, and harm (V.11-13). Yet, people who love money do not stop accumulating more wealth. The Bible says, “The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs” (1 Tim.6:10).

On the other hand, Ecclesiastes says that true satisfaction comes from God. “Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God” (v.18-19). It is God who gives us the ability to produce wealth (Deut.8:18). Proverb 10:22 says, “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” A man or woman of God should stay away from the love of money (1 Tim.6:11). Love of money often leads to greed. The Bible warns that greedy is idolatry, and an idol worshipper does not have “any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God” (Eph.5:5, Col.3:5). We need to learn to be content with whatever situation. We should be ready to use the money for God’s purposes and helping the needy ones.

APPLICATION: I should know that “godliness with contentment is great gain.” I must be aware of all the dangers that the love of money brings into my life and must flee from it. I will store up treasures in heaven.

PRAYER: Father God, thank you for the love, forgiveness, joy, and peace you give me. I can find the happiness of my life only in you, not in money or any worldly possessions. Lord Jesus, help me to love you more than anything and live for your glory. Amen.

சிலுவைக்கு பகைஞரைக் குறித்து எச்சரிக்கையாயிருங்கள்

வாசிக்க: பிரசங்கி 3,4; சங்கீதம் 54; ரோமர் 16

வேத வசனம்:  ரோமர் 16: 17. அன்றியும் சகோதரரே, நீங்கள் கற்றுக்கொண்ட உபதேசத்திற்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பிரிவினைகளையும் இடறல்களையும் உண்டாக்குகிறவர்களைக்குறித்து எச்சரிக்கையாயிருந்து, அவர்களை விட்டு விலகவேண்டுமென்று உங்களுக்குப் புத்திசொல்லுகிறேன்.
18. அப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவுக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்யாமல் தங்கள் வயிற்றுக்கே ஊழியஞ்செய்து, நயவசனிப்பினாலும் இச்சகப்பேச்சினாலும், கபடில்லாதவர்களுடைய இருதயங்களை வஞ்சிக்கிறவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள்.

கவனித்தல்:  ரோமர் நிருபத்தின் கடைசி ஐந்து அதிகாரங்களில், அப்போஸ்தலனாகிய பவுல் நடைமுறை கிறிஸ்தவத்திற்கு அதிக முக்கியத்துவம் கொடுத்து எழுதி இருப்பதைக் காணலாம். தன் நிருபத்தை முடிக்கும் முன், நற்செய்திப் பணியில் தனக்கு உதவியாக இருந்த பலரை நினைவுகூர்வதுடன், தவறான உபதேசம் மற்றும் போதகர்களைக் குறித்த எச்சரிப்பை ரோமாபுரியில் உள்ள திருச்சபைக்கு பவுல் எழுதுகிறார். ரோமர் 16:17,18 வசனங்களில் கள்ள போதனைகளை எப்படி கையாளுவது என்பதற்கான நடைமுறை ஆலோசனைகளை பவுல் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறார். முதலாவதாக, அப்போஸ்தலருடைய உபதேசத்திற்கு எதிராக பிரசங்கம் செய்கிறவர்களை/போதிக்கிறவர்களை நாம் அடையாளம் கண்டு கொள்ள வேண்டும். தவறான போதனைகள் பெரும்பாலும் தேன் தடவிய வார்த்தைகளால் ஆனதும், வேதாகமத்தின்படியானது என்று நம்மை நம்பச் செய்கிறதுமாக இருக்கிறது. ஆனால், அவை அடிப்படையில் நற்செய்திக்கு எதிரானதாகவும், கிறிஸ்தவர்களிடையே பிரிவினையையும், அவர்களின் வாழ்க்கையில் இடறலையும் உண்டாக்குகிறதாக இருக்கிறது. நாம் அப்படிப்பட்ட தவறான போதனைகளையும், அவற்றை போதிப்பவர்களையும் அடையாளம் கண்டு கொள்ள வேண்டியது அவசியம் ஆகும். இரண்டாவதாக, தவறான போதனைக்கு எதிராக நாம் செய்ய வேண்டியதென்னவெனில், நாம் அவைகளுக்கு இடம் கொடுக்கக் கூடாது. கள்ளப் போதகர்கள், அவர்கள் யாராக இருந்தாலும் சரி, அவர்களுக்கு உரிய இடம் இன்னதென்று நாம் அவர்களுக்குக் காட்ட வேண்டும். அவர்களுக்குப் பேச வாய்ப்பளிக்கக் கூடாது. ”அவர்களை விட்டு விலகவேண்டுமென்று உங்களுக்குப் புத்திசொல்லுகிறேன்” என்று பவுல் கூறுகிறார். சில கிறிஸ்தவர்களுக்கு இது கடினமானதாகவும், ஜனங்களை நேசித்தல் பற்றிய கேள்விகளை எழுப்புகிறதாகவும் இருக்கக் கூடும். கள்ளப் போதகர்களை நிராகரிக்க வேண்டியதற்கான காரணத்தை பவுல் விளக்குகிறார். அவர்கள் நம் ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்வதில்லை; அவர்கள் சிலுவைக்கு பகைஞராக இருக்கிறார்கள். கள்ளப் போதகங்கள் பொதுவாக கள்ளப் போதகரின் சுயநலக் கருத்தையும் பேராசையையும் பரப்புகிறதாகவே இருக்கிறது. கள்ளப் போதகர்கள் தங்களை விசுவாச வீரர்களாகக் காண்பித்துக் கொண்டு, கிறிஸ்துவின் உண்மையான சுவிசேஷத்தைப் பிரசங்கிக்கிறவர்கள் போல வேஷந்தரித்து ஜனங்களை வஞ்சிக்கிறார்கள். மூன்றாவதாக, அவர்கள் கிறிஸ்துவை மையமாக வைத்து, அவரை மகிமைப்படுத்துகிற ஊழியம் செய்வதில்லை என்பதை நாம் அறிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய சொந்த விருப்பங்களை நிறைவேற்றிக் கொள்வதையும், உலகப்பிரகாரமான ஆதாயங்களை அடைவதையுமே குறிக்கோளாக வைத்திருக்கிறார்கள். அவர்களிடம் கிறிஸ்துவின் சிந்தை இருப்பதில்லை. ஆகவே, கள்ளப் போதகர்கள் கிறிஸ்தவர்களை வஞ்சித்து ஏமாற்றுவது குறித்து கவலைப்படுவதில்லை.

தேவனுடைய சபையானது ஜனங்களை தவறாக வழிநடத்துகிற இப்படிப்பட்ட கள்ளப் போதகர்களைக் குறித்து எச்சரிக்கையாக இருந்து, அவர்கள் விசுவாசிகளை வஞ்சிப்பதற்கு/ஏமாற்றுவதற்கு எந்த வாய்ப்பையும் கொடுக்கக் கூடாது. ஒருவரின் போதனையை மதிப்பிடும்போது, நாம் பின்வரும் மூன்று கேள்விகளைக் கேட்க வேண்டும்: அப்போஸ்தலரின் உபதேசத்துடன் ஒத்திருக்கிறதா? கிறிஸ்துவை மகிமைப்படுத்துகிறதா? ஜனங்களை ஏமாற்றுகிறதா அல்லது அவர்களுக்கு பக்திவிருத்தி உண்டாக்குகிறதா?

பயன்பாடு: கள்ளப் போதகர்கள் மற்றும் அவர்களுடைய போதனைகள் குறித்து நான் எச்சரிக்கையாக இருக்க வேண்டும். கிறிஸ்தவர்களிடையே குழப்பத்தையும் பிரிவினையையும் கள்ளப் போதகர்கள் உண்டாக்குவதற்கு நான் அவர்களை அனுமதிக்கக் கூடாது. அவர்களுடைய வஞ்சனையான போதனைகளை நான் கேட்கவேண்டும் என்ற அவசியம் இல்லை. என் ஆன்மீக/ஆவிக்குரிய வளர்ச்சிக்கு  அவை பயனற்றவை. நான் கள்ளப் போதகர்களை விட்டு விலகி இருக்க வேண்டும். ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு ஊழியம் செய்வதும், அவரை மகிமைப்படுத்துவதுமே என் நோக்கம் ஆகும்.

ஜெபம்: இயேசுவே, கள்ளப் போதகர்கள் குறித்த எச்சரிக்கைக்காக உமக்கு நன்றி. ஆண்டவரே, சுவிசேஷ சத்தியத்திற்காக உறுதியாக நிற்கவும், அன்புடன் சத்தியத்தைப் பேசவும் எனக்கு உதவியருளும். ஆமென்.

Day - 236

Beware of enemies of the cross!

READ: Ecclesiastes 3,4; Psalms 54; Romans 16

SCRIPTURE:   Romans 16: 17 I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
18 For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.

OBSERVATION: In the last five chapters of the book of Romans, Apostle Paul gives great emphasis on practical Christianity. Before he concludes the epistle, Paul remembers many who have helped him in the Gospel work; and he warns the Roman Church concerning false teaching and false teachers. Romans 16:17,18, Paul shares practical tips on how to deal with false teachings. First, we need to identify those who preach against apostolic teaching. False teachings often come with sugar-coated words and make us believe that they are scriptural. But, they essentially differ from the Gospel, divide Christians, and cause them to stumble in their spiritual life. We need to figure out such false teachings and those who preach them. The second step against any false teaching is that we must avoid them. False preachers, whomever they may be, we should show them the place they deserve. They have no business in church affairs. Paul urges, “Keep away from them.”  It may sound harsh to some Christians and may raise questions about loving people. Paul explains his reasoning to reject false teachers. They do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ; they are enemies of the cross. False teachings usually promote the selfish idea and greed of a false teacher. False teachers deceive people by projecting themselves as warriors of faith and pretend to preach the true Gospel of Christ. Thirdly, we should know that they do not glorify Jesus Christ. They aim to gratify their own desires and receive worldly gains. They do not have the mind of Christ. So false teachers do not bother to deceive Christians.

The Church of God should be aware of such false teachers who mislead and deceive people and should not give them any opportunity to deceive believers. When evaluating a person’s teaching, we need to ask these three questions: Does it agree with apostolic teaching? Does it glorify Jesus Christ? Does it edify or deceive people?

APPLICATION: I need to be watchful against false teachers and their teachings. I should not allow them to cause confusion and divisions among Christians. I do not need to listen to their deceiving teachings. They are of no help to my spiritual growth. I should stay away from any false teachers.  My goal is to serve the Lord Jesus and glorify him in everything.

PRAYER: Jesus, Thank you for the warning against false teachers. Lord, help me to stand for the truth of the Gospel and speak the truth in love. Amen.
